Wow !

Was pointed in the direction of this thread through chums at Scottish Elises.

I was owner from 2008, buying from Gareth Owen and selling to Alan Gourlay. The Toxic Frog, as it was known, was both mighty and difficult to miss.

Took me most of my evening to catch up with all 9 pages, so will reread.

The work you both have done is great - feel like its in good hands. The respray is amazing. Glad to see you got rid of the 888s - horrid things - Avons just work (I went through a few sets of CR500s)..

If you want any stories from my time, happy to chat.

The sister car you mentioned :

The replacement Brise starter motor.

Thanks for the input! I always assumed that was the sister car, nice to have it confirmed.

Good evening, just picked up this thread looking at R500’s. I remember these Superlights as I worked for Tony and Dave at C&T motors when they bought them both. They were 14S & 15 JET.
They both had Saphire Cosworths each and also matching Lotus Carlton’s on order that got delayed and why they went to Caterham. They drove them often in the summer and did track days before everyone did! Often strung the cars in the workshop as they changed settings. Tony who owned 14S was Stirling Moss head mechanic and started at Cooper moving to Rob Walker. I used to valet the Caterham pair for them and Cosworths which were in a secret specification as they were very good friends with Dave Brodie at BBR. I left in 2001 and moved to Leicester to restore and run historic race cars and sometime later ended up running the Rob Walker Lotus 49 that Tony used to prep and run in period. Small circles.
Love seeing the two cars again and fond memories from them I remember the colour was outstanding back then, totally bonkers. One of the Cosworths is with a close friend with 15 JET plate as they sold when it went bust in mid 2000’s. Tony and Dave both still around.
