Ha. Was waiting for that!
I’ve already seen about the pollen filter! Clutch pedal removal... need to take a look.
The Meg isn’t a replacement for the ‘guna, it’s complementary!
Very impressed you got that for £1900, I was pleased with my mint, 62K 07 previous shape last year for £1200 until I saw this.I’ve already seen about the pollen filter! Clutch pedal removal... need to take a look.

I have actually become quite attached to it, 12k miles on and it has not cost me a penny apart from a set of wiper blades, tyres and a £30 ebay oil and filters change. It even passed it's MOT with zero advisories last month.
Very tempted to get the exact same Megane as you have when it comes time to renew.
Cheapest car to run I have ever owned.

Whoops. It would appear I’ve purchased another Renault. Behold, the Megane Dynamique Tom Tom 1.5 DCI hatch.
I had one of these (not that specific model, but the engine was the same) as a hire car once and really liked it. It drove beautifully and was more than adequately powered for what it was.If it wasn't for Renault's terrible reputation on reliability and making their cars with cheese I would have happily bought one.

I think you have to know which ones to get.My parents ran an '01 Scenic to nearly 300k miles with few dramas. On the other hand, I have heard terrible things about dCi Clios.
OP's looks sweet though.

Ha, I can help you a bit with this. (I just knew this would come in useful at some stage. My parents ran an '01 Scenic to nearly 300k miles with few dramas. On the other hand, I have heard terrible things about dCi Clios.

Clios were always pretty good, except for the leaking sunroof.
Megane 2 were so so. Electronic fusebox gave them an unfounded reputation for electrical issues, when in reality,it was just 1 problem. Scenic handbrake is troublesome, but can be fixed.
Laguna was hit and miss.
Both the 1.5 and the 1.9 dci engines came fitted with delphi injection systems. (So did Fords). These tended to break up prior to 2007 especially after misfuelling, and result in huge repair bills. Not a wise shedding choice. However, some of the 1,9's were also fitted with Bosch, which was much better (IMO). Since 2007 Delphi seem to have sorted their act out, and the electrical fuse box has been fixed, so they are much much better.
The Laguna 3, came fitted with a 2.0 dci engine, which is excellent.
The Megane 3 only comes with the 1.5, which is fine. The 106 horse variant suffers No3 con-rod damage if you don't change the oil frequently. (10k miles?) Not many electrical or other reliability glitches with either the Clio, Megane, or Laguna 3. They are also dead cheap, because people don't trust them, and German cars are much better. <snigger>
The engine bay needed a spruce up so you could see the wood for the trees.
I changed the crankcase breather o-ring as it seemed to be letting by and cleaned and tightened the boost pipe clamp. These seem to have removed any odour entering the cabin from the engine bay.
Fuel filter is no doubt required. Located in the wheel arch. You can see how a later diesel is more fiddly than an earlier petrol (the ‘guna).

The Megane has had an oil change today. I know it was performed just before purchase, but for £24, why not.
Why do garages do this. Over tightened oil filter. Managed to remove it, but it’s not much fun.
The ‘guna has got three weeks of national work ahead. It’s had a lack of use of late. I’ll be interested to see how it does.

I stil think these are one of the most handsome midsize car of this class they’ve made, I think if it came out now it would still look Morden.
My mum had a pearlescent brown one with a brown velour interior and the dci engine and it was so comfy I loved it. Written off by a transit in the end
She also had a green one, again a DCI but with cream leather and that was a waft mobile.

The first colour combo sounds... interesting! My mum had a pearlescent brown one with a brown velour interior and the dci engine and it was so comfy I loved it. Written off by a transit in the end
