£600 Laguna 2, shed

It was a holiday let when we were between houses. A couple doors down from the post office. Nice part of the world.
Know exactly where that is. I'd like to get back to Southwell, but it's silly money living there. For example, I sold my 1980's 2 bed end of terrace with no garage or garden for £180k. Sarah and I bought our double the square feet 2 bed Victorian end of Terrace with a 50 metre garden else where in Notts for £100k less!Update.
First up, the Megane.
The car came with front pads, as the ones fitted were low. I thought it was rude not to get these changed, along with some new discs (£45). Unfortunately, I spotted a snapped spring whilst there, the next job. A rattle had recently appeared, so this makes sense.
Sat nav maps updated - £27.
I had something of a scary moment after giving the car a wash. Practically every warning light appeared on the dash. I took off the scuttle panel, cleared the drains and washed it all through. It hasn't happened again, so it would appear that was the issue (water collecting and causing a short).
Air con had a regas due to the unusual weather. Now nice and cold (at least one of the cars is...).
The Laguna has covered 7,000 miles under my ownership.
New exhaust mount lasted a long time...
Zip tie fix for now...
The rattle from the front doesn't sound great. I thought I'd investigate. (Pic from when sorting the exhaust mount...).
Springs were great, I thought we might have had another snapper.
After using a pry bar, it would appear the wishbone bushes are at the end of their life.
The Laguna had a delightful comparison with a new, remapped M140i Shadow Edition.
The BMW was swift, certainly reminding me of the 15 year difference and 30 odd k difference in price
I'm soon to receive my original car back, so the Laguna is unlikely to be needed much longer. Not sure what the future holds!

Got the same problem on mine. Looks like a bit of a bh of a job to do as the back of the subframe needs to be dropped due to the bolts being put in from above.
There is a 'how to' video on Youtube by a french gut that makes it look quite easy.
I got a pair of wisbones and drop links from ebay for £55 and they seem Ok quality wise.

Fancied the high temperatures to have a bash at the spring on the Megane. It rattles and its an MoT fail, so worth getting sorted.
The strut came off, but I had to smash the drop link off. The allen key part rounds off easily and is a particular favourite. Euro Car Parts had one in stock, luckily.
Coil is quite clearly snapped. Thinking about it, I remember an odd noise when I assume it occurred.
And here we are, back together and noise free.
Delightful. I think I lost 9 litres of water in sweat, though. Nasty.

Time to finish the story.
The Megane, after a quick CV boot reattachment, passed its MoT first time, with zero advisories. For an eight year old French hatch on 120k, that's not bad going. It had four new Goodyear tyres a month or so ago, too.
The Laguna had been sitting doing very little for two months. A friend of mine needed a temporary car for work as his expired after some enthusiastic driving. I was sad to see her go! She sold for £400 with two months of MoT remaining. It really was an enjoyable car. He's looking to do 900 miles a week in it... so I hope the cambelt and dephaser think long lasting thoughts!
I have picked up another car, though. I'll probably start a new thread. A P38!

Great thread.
I'm just thinking about going to see a 55plate 2.0 16v petrol, hatch, manual. On 110k. 4months not, Cambelt done 200miles ago apparently.
Asking £500 on Facebook marketplace.
Fuel gauge doesn't work but apart from that he says it's all ok.
It's the top spec one with heated leather and sat Nav etc.
I'm currently tooling around in a 1.2 Clio I got very cheap. I did the cambelt, water pump and stat on that plus a couple of suspension jobs but the damn thing is just too small for me and is only just powerful enough to be classed as safe for keeping up with modern traffic.
Anyway, after reading this is probably worth a look.

Yes, the Laguna you are looking does sound ideal. If you are playing with Clios, the Laguna will no doubt feel easier to work on.
Laguna is still going strong with its new owner.

Brave purchase!
If you want the leather sprucing up give me a shout, you're not too far.
If it's anything like the leather in my old 02 Laguna IDE I doubt you will actually find much real leather in the seats. If you want the leather sprucing up give me a shout, you're not too far.
