Fair enough

There's an absolutely spectacular amount of glazing in that car - visibility must be incredible!

Forgot how much I love the look of banded steels!

Any future plans other then a s/s exhaust?

Also, need interior pics!

Love the prancing moose! Know the feeling,I've regretted selling lots of my cars, I've got a sick 156 v6 on the drive and just don't want to sell it.

I know it's never going to happen and anyone who ever says this and expects anything to happen is mad but:
If you're ever in the mood to sell, let me know.

That aside, it's exactly what I'd love to do with a 940, excellent work. Going to be following this one.

Nice one mate,
You should really do a car history post sometime, if you have a spare hour (or day) biggrin

That does look really cool, old Volvo estate to the uninitiated but the ride height, steels, prancing Moose badges etc will be a big clue to anyone who knows what they are looking at.

One of the early motoring vids I saw on the net was this one,

Very cool, these boxy old Volvo's have so much character, I'd like to try one at some point (before they get too expensive?). Looks great on the banded steels at this ride height.

Nice engine mod's, what kind of power do you reckon it's making?

That's rather wonderful.

I'd have more standard looking wheels and a subtle exhaust but that's personal preference.

With the right diff I understand these drift rather well wink

We used to have a 760 turbo intercooler estate (1989 - F) which I got to drive when I passed my test.

Kick down on acceleration was OK, but it didn't corner well. It was a good cruiser and we often did the journey from Herts to Scotland in it.

What size are the banded wheels OP?

Good timing for this thread! I was driving my Dad’s ‘P’ reg 940 turbo today and on the slightly greasy roads with ditchfinder tyres the back end was twitching about nicely. I love the gearchange and it’s the easiest car I’ve driven for getting heal and toe just right - so much so that even though it’s super slow I find it way more fun than thrashing about in my Mum’s S3. (Yes, I’m mid 30’s and still borrow my parents’ cars!)

Those Volvo guys seemed to design cars for the purpose it's intended without getting sidetracked by pointless styling like so many other makers. There's an honesty and integrity with which they were designed and built, no wonder they can look so cool with some light suspension work and wheels (i'm thinking also of the 240GLT).
Your 740 looks brilliant, has a proper road presence!

New back box added. Went for the straight pipe and it was horrendous but lucky for me my pal had a spare cobra back box from his corsa which I was able to use.

Really happy with the sound now. Not too loud but still makes a nice noise.

Ive had 3 940's!

2 petrol and 1 diesel. They really do have so much character and look feckin awesome so retro!

I even bought a 960 donor for one of mine and stole all the seats, alcantara headlining, coded door handles, tailgate etc
