Late update if the brilliant New Years Morning meet at the Phoenix Inn in Hartley Whitney - loads more than I’ve seen in previous years perhaps as people celebrated being allowed to go!
Took the Z and the wife (she was thrilled)
And my personal favourite: Manual 540i on M5 wheels - absolutely stunning!

It was a totally new sensation to be one of the quickest at a track day. My experience so far had always been to hassle the faster stuff in the corners and then let stuff past on the straights - or (as my cousin found) be genuinely quicker than turbo’s fiestas and minis in the corners but not enough grunt to overtake in the straights.
The rest of the afternoon was spent trying to get smoother and quicker. Again a massive difference between Clio and Meg was the amount of laps it could handle. The Clio would let you do 6-8 hard laps before brakes, tyres and mechanical sympathy would slow you down or bring you in. The Meg with its upgraded Intercooler, oil cooler and other bits just kept going: 10-15 hard laps would see me needing a break long before the car did!
Anyway: this is a very long way to say to probably not many people reading that I took my Meg to where it lives/loves best and now I love it. Knowing what it can do helps forgive it when it’s grumbling its way around a car park!
interesting. I've enjoyed many Clios but haven't driven a modern Meg, your report joins many other glowing reports of its ability on track. The rest of the afternoon was spent trying to get smoother and quicker. it might be a bit early to ask, but do you think the Meg will be as much fun after a few more track days? the Clio maybe be slower, but as you say it's a lot of fun being the hunter in the little terrier. you're now the hunted!
I must drive one...

Definitely drive one. The more I get to know the Meg the more impressive it is. Got Bedford in a couple of weeks and really looking forward to pushing it harder and harder. They are very much a more grown up car than the Clio. Definitely drive one! I must drive one...

Great thread, and for a French car fan boy like me, the Clio and the Meg are my favourites, Clio looked amazing.
But off piste, do you happen to know where you got your model display cabinet from?
Thank you! I’m very much still new to the French car club but am definitely a fan for life! But off piste, do you happen to know where you got your model display cabinet from?

The cabinets were a lucky eBay find from a closing down jewellery shop! Getting them back in one piece in the back of a hire van is a story all to itself!!!
Cracking day at Bedford. The Meg behaved brilliantly and pounded round without complaint.
It can easily soak up the punishment and just seems to ask for more and more.
The diff is still exceptional and I am learning to trust is more and more. Use my right foot to get me out of any trouble and revelling in the diff hooking up and hauling the Meg out of corners.
As always with track days I spent the morning trying to drive too hard, too quick and it wasn’t until I pulled everything back by 5% after lunch that I developed that lovely smooth rhythm you get when you approach corners at the right speed and allow the car to do its work! A real pleasure.
MDiffixulg was there with his Mini which was surprisingly quick until we realise that the Meg and The Mini both have 227bhp/ton!
Another mate (who is also my Mechanic) came along with his Track spec Leon Cupra and despite my repeated warnings before the event was totally gobsmacked when the Meg wound him in and spat him out. He’s off to buy a new diff now……..
All in all a cracking day and I finally killed off the Pirelli Trofeo Rs! They’ve been magnificent but will probably be replaced by Cup2s because of the cost!
As always the Meg is a practical option too swallowing everything you need for a track day and more
Anyone who doubts the pace of the Meg over the day should check this next photo out….
Essentially still very very happy with it!
I also realised it’s 14 years since my first ever track day which was also at Bedford in a slightly inappropriate e34 525i - I’d love to know what a lap time was in that!!!! The baguettes are definitely quicker!!
Cracking day!!!!
