Well that looks amazing. What sort of costs are involved in the swap?
How is access for servicing?
Thank you. Cost wise: Let's just say it's not cheap ! I see lots of man maths on the internet of people trying to do this cheaply. I'm not saying it cannot be done for a reasonable cost, but depends on alot of variables. One major factor is that I have had to import quite alot of parts from the US. Looks cheap, but import taxes and shipping sucks! How is access for servicing?
Maintenance wise, I am literally just finishing running her in, but access to the oil filter and plugs is a sinch. These big yank V8's dont need much maintenance. Just oil & filter changes for the most part.

Seems pretty sensible to me!
Personally I love the project. That exhaust setup looks great from underneath
Tyler Hoover did a build log on youtube of his LS 996. Not overly detailed, but enough to give you an idea of what's involved if anyone else is interested in doing the swap (rather a lot of work by the look of things!)

That, is fking awesome. How on earth did you fit that in the back?! Well done and can't wait to see the video.
There's a few out there. it's a similar size/ weight to the standard engine. there's an off the shelf kit available from renegade hybrids to mate up the box etc I thinkOP - did you use such a kit or fabricate lots yourself?
Incredible. Looks a really high standard job, from what can be seen underneath.
Amazed it fits, really. How much cutting/welding was needed to get it in and mount it? Electronics as well - presumably it's running it's own ECU, but what about interfacing to all the other car electronics?
If I had a really tidy 996, and the engine went pop, as a keeper I'd love this. But I expect conversion costs would be astronomical if you went to a competent garage and "left your instructions".

This is great. I'm no purist, if the mechanical hardware works well and is good, then it is good.
I've seen some other American V8 into 911 swaps online and can really see the appeal of a big NA V8 in a relatively small and good looking sports car chassis such as this. The intial thought is that it would add weight but it seems the LS is at worst a similar weight and in some cases the complete install is lighter than the Porsche flat six setup.

Fully approve; hot rod Porsche.
Nerd questions - did you manage to retain things like the AC and heater working normally? What's it like at a cruise in terms of noise/RPM? Did you integrate into existing cluster and instrumentation or go aftermarket?
The idea of a V8 911 seems to have very few downsides.
