Very nice, refurbed wheels look like a top job and spot on, colour wise. Lovely car!

Came out perfect. As good as a factory finish. Might have made a schoolboy error with the valves though. Just tried them now and too wide to fit. Never checked the width before buying them. Looks like i need another set of BBS valves (caps will be ok). Jonesy

Will be right once fitted. Tyres just landed this afternoon. Had been searching for a set of original Pilot Super Sports but no one could source a set. After a few searches i came accross the PS91's on the MPower forum in the USA where a few owners had switched from MPSS to the Kumho's and seem to have decent reviews. Tread pattern very similar too. Not badly priced either at £70 each, landed. Pretty stiff sidewall which should work well with the suspension and diff. Only a toy/dry weather car anyway so will see how they compare to the MPS4's that are on the original wheels.Interested to know how you find the Khumos once you've had a chance to get used to them.
I've been running Pilot Supersports on my Mini for the past year. Since having it remapped they seem to be chunking a little since it spins the fronts more often, so a slightly cheaper option with similar performance would be welcomed.
Golf looks great btw, love the BBS.

Just back from a 3000 km euro trip to the ring, I to got rid of ps's and put some ps91's on.. I can't get over how much better they are. Wet grip was amazing not to mention treating the car pretty bad on track
I'm actually in the process of looking for a 5 door dsg gti, unfortunately we don't have ed30's or the likes over here

Sounds good, I'll give them a shot once these Michelins wear out. Tread pattern looks quite similar to the Supersports.I'm actually in the process of looking for a 5 door dsg gti, unfortunately we don't have ed30's or the likes over here

How can you not fit Pirellis? Podie said:

They're pretty st though. I'll probably run the BBS on for a while, remove the MP4's from the Pirelli wheels, then maybe look to refurb the oem wheels back to standard with a set of factory fit tyres. Keep the MP4's as a spare set in the loft.Edited by MDMA . on Friday 21st September 10:47
Hi Rob, yes, this was mine before it went to Southampton. It was a standard car when I bought it and I dropped probably more money that was sensible on it but it became one of the best cars I've owned to date. Some of my favourite additions were the OZ Alleggerita wheels I had and the AP Racing 6 piston/floating rotor brake kit and obviously the LSD. The wheels were ideal for this brake configuration as they had correct running clearance without the need for spacers.
It didn't have coilovers when I had it, I chose a Bilstein B12 Pro kit which was removed by the gentlemen I sold it to. I tried to sell it with all my modifications in place but there didn't seem to be the appetite for it despite my buying all these parts new and having everything professionally fitted. I had to sell a large number of parts to bring the price down, JKM removed these for me. Ironically, the new owner went on to repeat much of what I had already done. I had the resonated centre section fitted with the exhaust but I think it may non resonated now. Non resonated was a little to much for me
If it doesn't have a high pressure fuel pump and it's still running 330bhp it might be worth putting one on to ensure good AFR. I've a feeling, but could be wrong, that it's on a standard pump now. If you went with a HP pump again you'd be able to have some boost and timing settings changed. Of course, you may already know this so forgive me!
Anything you feel I may be able to help with give me a shout.

Thanks Ash. I did see it first time for sale when you had it but still had the FSTi. Would have taken it complete, as it was. Never mind.
As per PM, plan is to get it back to mint, unmarked condition, probably go back to a good 4/6pot brake set-up (S3 discs and calipers are a little heavy), then look to a decent turbo for a solid 350bhp.

cool car, i expect even most VW fans are unaware of the Pirelli edition. The seats are not likely to appeal to everyone but they do to me, plus the additional interior/ exterior upgrades.
yours also has some brilliant add ons which have been well chosen & enhance the car.
ive not experienced a mk5 with a lsd yet, just regular, stage 1&2remaps. I think close to 300hp,lsd, suspension/arb upgrades and some super sticky tyres would be a great package.
I fall into that camp, had never heard of it before until I got talking to a guy at work who has one & he told me it was a limited edition. His is a late one too with only circa 50k on it. yours also has some brilliant add ons which have been well chosen & enhance the car.

What are the main differences, it has the ed30 engine I believe?
Cheers

The AP kit was staggering in its stopping power, it only required AP's standard pads (APF404 I think) as the pad area was massive. Worked properly from cold as they weren't an exotic compound and pad/disc wear was very low. The kit was £2300 which wad a good price, I got it from BG Developments. The S3 parts are like pig iron, they work but that's all you can say about them.
I shall watch this space with interest, good to see it in such good hands

A new turbo is a good idea. The K04 suffers from compressor surge which is best managed by keeping the engine above 3/3.5k rpm. A hybrid or similar is a good choice. This, and a Syvecs ECU with custom map were on my list had I been keeping the car for longer. JKM have a show car, an Octavia, with over 500bhp and still front wheel drive. Granted, the hardware doesn't much resemble a standard car but I've ridden in it and have experienced a launch and it's mind bending. The Syvecs ECU has a very sophisticated way of controlling the engine in parallel with lots of other parameters that are simply beyond a standard ECU, which is very basic by comparison. It would let the car feel faster even it had no more power since it'll waste less power, build boost faster and protect your drive train. It truly re-writes the rule book for FWD cars with high power. Have a read here: http://www.syvecs.co.uk/
Jim worked closely with Syvecs on his installation and I know he has a lot of respect from them for his technical knowledge and expertise.
