That does sound perfect, 80's - Toyota - grumpiness it's basically me transposed to another locale biggrin

I don't really do threads anymore as I don't do anything worthy of updating so sorry for the slight highjack;

Found this on autotrader yesterday, and then came across your thread OP.

This looks a tad suspect as it needs work and MOT runs out this month but does seem cheap.

JDM goodness from 1986:

My mk1a MR2, also on mk3 wheels (I had to buy 2 sets to get 4 the same width)

The rear wing is under the house, because IMO it looks better without it.

I found the gap between 2nd and 3rd a bit large, so fitted a 6 speed LSD box from a 1998 JDM Corolla.

Unfortunately it came with the 20 valve ITB 'blacktop' engine, so I had to fit that too frown.
Tacho modified to suit:

160 hp won't frighten any modern car, but it's more than enough fo a car this small.

And yes, it needed rust repairs.

Hey, JDM fans, is it normcore for these heaps to have rubbish headlamps? All three of the JDMs that I have driven recently have dipped beams that are meh, and full beams that are barely brighter than the dips.

Yesterday, after a week of driving the Pajero enormotruck, I was back in the Skyline. It felt super light and agile after the truck. I may (allegedly) have engaged in what the General Gassing types refer to as making progress.

The JDM cloudy headlight or actually terrible? If the former Headlight Restorer kit will help, if the latter its a Nissan thing - my Skyline was the old candles & jam-jar reference but my Toyota does seem much better.

Were you surprised at the ease at which progress was made? I thought that after the Skyline the Crown would remind me that's not the way it's done in Japan - however with the "sport" buttons pressed swift and unruffled progress was made.

Oooooooof. Harsh, but fair. Next I will be starting threads moaning on about Muslims and benefit claimants while boasting about all my successful tax dodges and owning my Panamera through an Isle of Man company controlled by my 23 year old third wife who is called Svetlana.

PS: In reality the car is a 320D, on HP up the wazzoo, obvs.

Just because I'm a nosy git, did you keep your Country Pile back here in Blighty? Or is it a case of Lock, stock and barrel move out there?

Cloudy headlights on my venerable GS430 (MY2000) restored to clarity with the rigorous application of Bar Keepers friend.

Toothpaste can also be utilised although less effectively.

It is still there, inhabited by my 947 year old but still sprightly Mum, and my hippy punkabilly metaaaaaaal slacker brother, plus his very stinky cat, and sometimes my bro's dodgy girlfriend (to be fair, the first girlfriend that my bro has had in ages that does not have even more tats than he has, and according to my Mum the GF is quite nice really).

My bro is a mahooosive pain in the butt, but also a very cool dude, and I love him dearly. He is now my Mum's carer, and that takes a load off my mind and my wallet. Also, he looks after my shed full of shonky sheds.

And if you claim there's not one in your family, it's quite possibly you.

Third puncture in a year - the roads here are just rubbish. Massive chasms everywhere, sharp edges, jaggedy bits. Now only one out of the original four Yokohama Icemasters left, and three Wan Hang Lo Ditchmaster Supersports instead. Bah, Humbug.

Drives fine, however. Italian tune-up on way to airport helps a bit. I might be heading Blightywards next year, so I must try to drive car to its death ASAP.
