Surely we deserve some form of explanation - I thought the 986 was your Boxster of choice?

They're identical bar the bore, and as we're machining the liners out (of a brand new block, which does feel a little wrong) then that doesn't matter.

It's the most recent short block, so hypoid chains and and the big/final IMS, new crank (and rods and pistons, but those are going), and it's clean and shiny so won't need vapour blasting before it can be worked on.

Sadly it won't be Euro 4, and have to drive onto the A205 to get out of the road I live on, so depending on where the cameras are for the zone it may cost me £20 every time I take the car out, but we shall see.

It's planned to be £12.50 at the moment unless you know something that isn't on the TFL website?

Shame she had to go but glad another box has been procured. Having same quandary myself as need more practical transport to replace R53 MCS and am thinking E91 sixer or some sort. Should be good with anything from 2005 for most I think.

For comparison, I bought 2x rads & 2x condensers for £85/ea & £48/ea respectively, all Hella/Berh, took me about 2 hrs on the roadside, + some coolant.

That's very good that. Can you do the AC refill yourself without special machines? I did get a quite to do both AC condenser only and fill with correct gas at my home by a mobile specialist for 300 quid I think it was.

I'm interested in the comparison with your old Cayman. How does it feel? Heavier? Floppier?

I haven't driven a Cayman but at no point on any back road thrash in the Boxster did I ever think about needing anything more in terms of solidity.

Topless will always be a trump card too. hehe

Yes i think fitting gt3 / carrera 3.6 plenums increase the power by a good 10-15 bhp themselves dont they, Remap to make the most of it maybe up to 30 bhp.. Would be good fun i think. The mrs is getting a new car soon and im trying to convince her to get a 987 S so i can go play in the twisties and enjoy the sun on a warm summer evening.

I'd agree. Better looking bumper. The centre rad hole on the 986 looks like an after thought which I guess it is. So the centre hole on a 987 is just for show?

I think not all 996s have centre rad either, don't get it; 3.2S it was added for cooling capacity, but extra 0.2L not req?
