Renault Avantime - Dear god what have I done.
Discussion
A mate of mine has a V6 auto one of these. Not my kind of car but I'm quite fond of it. I've driven it about a little bit and it feels like driving a spaceship! Very glassy and comfy. Crazy, double-hinged doors. Massive boot. Inexplicably cramped back seats...
I reckon an Avantime would be a good basis for an electric conversion.

despite my dislike of most things practical I do find myself looking at these on occasion. Lovely
The odd thing is it really isn't practical at all. Renault effectively took the very practical Espace and said "You know what? Why don't we remove 3 seats and 2 doors and yet keep it the same size as as a small African country." It does have a big boot though.Hitch said:

I'm so unlucky, if I bought a Renault Avantime, I'd probably write it off in a head on collision with a Vel Satis.
Technically impossible. You'd have to find one of each in working order to do so! Or maybe that's your point...If the OP is out in his car, and sees a Bugatti Veyron, if he goes on the Bugatti owners club forum that evening, he'll see the owner boasting that he actually saw an Aventime!

So the error is to do with the accelerator pedal, but the car has recently had a new throttle body?
Really not as far fetched as you think.A fault code does not neccesarily tell you what's wrong, it tells you what the ECU can (or cannot) see.
An engine running badly may have duff fuel injectors but the ECU not recognise the issue until the O2 sensor reports a problem. In this case, replacing the O2 sensor to alleviate an issue with a faulty injector would be silly.

And it's all sorted! Turns out the replacement throttle body handn't been "coded" to the car via Renault diagnostics. I thought this car would have been too old to be caught in the trap of coded ancillary parts, but there you go! Currently still in the garage having a once over, but we're looking like we're in business.

Also if every one on here who now swoons over the Avantime had actually bought one they could have doubled the lifetime production run

If they were common, we wouldn't want one. Catch 22.Abbott said:

Well, that's the case for a lot of cars. There's loads of things that I am glad *someone* buys but would never go out and buy myself. For example - the Dacia Duster.
