Great thread.

It’ll have been owned by JLR when new with it having a ‘BJ’ registration number.

Oh FFS why have my pics come out like that again ??!
Assuming you're on an iPhone?

If so, take them landscape with the home button to the right hand side, should upload the right way round then.

Car looks spot on also.

Gorgeous car, same colour as my old XJ8 Sport. Well done and hope it serves you well.

Could it have been supplied new by a West Midlands Jaguar dealer instead?

It was ordered directly from Jaguar by "Royal Household fleet cars" apparently. They'll put that in writing when I send hem proof I'm the new owner.

Cheers, it's weird as I've not had the problem before, and it only appears to be on this site

Great story and lovely colour. I have one of these Sov LWB's 4.2 V8 they simply waft you a long and you get the feeling you would never be tired even after a full days driving.Mine is an 05 with 60k and I swear the interior looks and smells a day old everytime I open the door I smile. The only draw back is they are bloody long.

That's a pretty good summing up. I did 300 miles first day ( with the seat base stuck in a position that wasn't ideal 'til I got ot the Jag place),cruise set, and at no time did I get tired, want to press on up someones chuff, or get bored. Its like sitting in a lovely traditional calm hotel looking out the window.

Getting mid 30's out of a 4.2 V8 is crazy but its only doing about 1750 rpm between 60-70mph. I am desperately trying to keep hold of mine due to losing off road parking I would really like to make it a keeper so we can grow old together.

They are that sort of car aren't they? I was driving back pondering and at one point I was thinking "is this car boring"?? Then I came to my senses that of course it wasn't, the car was actually so bloody good I'd done 400 miles effortless miles at that point and was completely chilled... not bored. Had a little smile to myself at that point as I realised I'd completely "got it".

A neighbour has just returned from a trip to Turkey in his XF and I thought how cool it would be to do a trip like that.
It is a bit uneventful driving because it does what its supposed to . I have an XK8 with the same engine but despite it being half the size because of the Aluminium Body they are about the same weight if anything the XJ is a bit lighter.

That's the reason I miss mine. I work from home so don't commute but I race all over the UK. The car is perfect for that kind of use - even after a long race weekend, I could jump in the Jag, do 3-400 miles home and the time would pass in an instant. I don't think I've ever had that in a car before.

We're now looking at XF estates as the next family car.....

Not yet, I'm taking it over to him Saturday afternoon (hopefully with his grandchildren in it).I'll be taking a couple of pic's and wil also givean update to the lady who sold it to me as we said we will try and keep a bit of legacy going with the car.

Congratulations on the car. Hopefully your old man will love it. My brother owned a X350 4.2 sport and then the 2.7 diesel. Comfy old barges, great to waft around in.

I used the Jag Specialist on my old X308 XJR, top bloke.

Love how the bloke, in true man style, had told his wife only half of the resto costs.

Best of luck for tomorrow. Looking forward to hearing how it all goes. Obviously this car was meant to me and my very best to you and your family.
