What was the fitment issue?
Have you seen CSP stuff?
J-tubes didn't fit into the exhaust outlets in back were the wrong angle so couldn't line them up properly...looked at my rather rotten original German muffler I have had for years, it's too rotten to use, and the outlets were perfectly central for the tubes to slot in..Have you seen CSP stuff?

In between Xmas shopping...Got full refund on the repro stock exhaust from heritage (which was good).
So sticking to my vintage speed aim, decided to restore my abarth repro exhaust, I have had the pipes straightened up at a exhaust fabrication garage over weekend, and welded so should be flush now, the exhaust pipes always pointed at the ground which really bugged me from a aesthetic point of view, don't know why this was the case, as all abarths in this design the pipes had a slight kink or curve.
So today I have prepared the exhaust and sprayed it up, going to look great when it's done in matte black UHT paint.
Fixed a sticky speedo also, so that's ticked off the list.
Pic before painted, will post another next week once it's cured - out of context this exhaust is a lovely looking thing imo.

Ever since I was a young boy...
Ever drive it to Soho? Brighton? A lovely looking thing, to my eye far nicer than the scene/slammed/rat/Socal cars so often duplicated.
Well, after a while and busy with work I haven't had chance to get the beetle out of its sleeping state...I knew I had an issue with it's battery holding it's charge, just didn't like being parked too long as it would drain quite quickly.
Once fired up (using a USB jump starter pack) this thing is amazing btw, I keep it in me all the time now, it would run fine with the alternator keeping it going.
But, parked for a while it would die and refuse to start, so a new battery was ordered, ECP to the rescue with massive promo code over bank holiday
So, remove old battery after 9 years (it lasted well tbh), utter doddle as per usual on these cars...quick check of the floorpans and clean, as this is a known rotting place for old bugs, all looks ok.
This floorpan was painted using POR15 8 years ago, seems to be holding up well.
Quick drive about, and a few exterior shots, just needs a clean, but not today though - amazing how dusty a drafty barn makes it, and we seem to have a family of swallows nesting above it, they seem to love dive bombing me whenever I am near the place!

After wedding duties for my brothers wedding, it was tortured to a double wash and wax job (I am a car man, but I hate washing cars) for the big day, it worked honourably...
I was best man for the wedding, here it is outside the venue in the evening (low res images, need to source the high res one)
Few months gone by...for now a autumn cobweb run and a few detail shots of the interior, it needed a bit of help starting this morning but as always it's soldiered on, and got my shopping this afternoon

If anyone is still following my thread... the time has come to get the engine out of this bug (and for me to stop being a tight arse)
I have far too many oil leaks for my liking and making a mess of my barn space...
Big one is the flywheel oil seal, this has been leaking for 8 years!!!
So way overdue, so while it's in pieces, new new clutch and flywheel going in (probably contaminated anyway)...cute little LUK clutch kit, £130 stamped Brazil, good on the South Americans for using these bugs for so long.
- Clutch & Flywheel
- Adjustable push-tubes (saves taking heads off)
- Flywheel oil seal
- Few other seals whilst it's out...
- Gearbox oil service (not sure last time, if ever it was done)
Hoping to assist in all the above if time/work permits, but have found a great local Air-cooled specialist that may get the job
So, quite abit - these things always leak, but will be nice to get it right (or try...)
Hopefully get images to go with all of this...
