Been using the car on the road a bit more, and seems to help with learning the car. Also learnt what a loose tie rod bolt feels like and the importance of retaining wire! No harm done and the car now drives in a straight line..

Wiscombe yesterday and starting to get where I thought the car may be, took a second off my best time.

It's certainly one of the best motorsport venues and a real challenge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUzqLVVIQgI

Plans for the winter. Improved induction / intake, better final drive (hopefully), get it mapped, baffled sump, put the poly lower arms on, lower the weight if possible. Going to look at rear cage options, probably starting to push my luck.

Looked like a good run, what time did you end up with?

Looked like you lifted at bunnies?

Was a 47.25. Reckon that a mid 46 is more than possible with the car as it is now. Yes, slight lift at bunnies but car is much more stable on these tyres, so will aim to be flat from now on.

For hill climb/sprint work then a 5.1fd must be on your shopping list?

Was thinking 5.3fd, and they're not too expensive.

There were some impressive times on Sunday.

That 4C driver must be brave!

Hill looked green, damp and scary when we arrived on Saturday, but there was a huge amount of grip. Sunday meant to be even quicker, but I can only get away with doing a single day.

The Alfa is a proper competition car, and I believe that there's another one as a dedicated road car. A different level.

A fun day at Castle Combe brought the season to an end, always good to stretch well into October. A real range of cars, some serious kit and then more standard cars. But excellent to be running in such a competitive class.

Car now off the road for a couple of months, and hit list as follows..

1. Improve suspension. Have polybushed lower arms to fit.
2. Fit PRC "JDM" intake manifold and replace K&N Typhoon (which sounds great but is probably losing me a bit).
3. Improve safety. Stories of big accidents at a Goodwood event has woken me up. Proper seat mount needed and rear cage will be fitted in the New Year.
4. Car will need to be remapped, and hopefully get some decent improvements over standard power. At least 220bhp would be nice and more VTEC range.

Have already fitted the "new" front lower wishbones. Underestimated what a nightmare splitting balljoints is, but got there in the end. Orginial bushes and arms well past their best.

Onto the intake manifold and sourcing the new intake.

Have a look round on the owners pages and go with an RBC inlet rather than the JDM. More gains to be had for the same cash when the remap is done at the same time.

Mods on mine when I bought it.
RBC inlet, throttle body spacer, Tegiwa intake, running Hondadata remap etc Vtec comes in at 4k and has a dyno print out for 243. Mapping was done by TDI North.
Mugen Exhaust currently running no cat but this might change in the future.
Apparently got a lighter flywheel on updated clutch in it.
Working my way through the suspension at the minute, done drop links etc and got some engine mounts and inserts to go on.

Unfortunately I'm on a very tight budget at the moment and the PRC was available for £80 rather than £300 plus for the RBC. Something to upgrade in the future when i also sort the exhaust as well.

Nice spec, and that's where I'd like to end up. Lower vtec is a must. Going to always need a cat on the car to make it legal, so exhaust will be expensive.

If you’re going to spend a good chunk on the exhaust then Solid fab is a good way to go, they do a nice big bore header with a decent cat too. Wish I’d seen it before I bought the header I’ve got now.

Progress being made.. induction and intake manifold off the car. Getting replacements all back on as soon as stubborn TB gasket is removed.

Enjoying prepping the car over the winter. Most changes already made, including getting all of the intake kit back on. Boxing Day oil change complete.

Been looking at mounting the drivers seat in a better way, but Tegiwa mount just seems to put the seat too low and too far back. Need to have a play. Car will get booked in for remapping (I'll be happy with 220bhp and a lower vtec) and rear cage to be installed before the new season. Would love a lower Final Drive, but that's going to have to wait for the moment.

Who are you going to get the mapping done by?

That's a decent question. We're not exactly the centre of the universe down here, but was going to have a proper conversation with Performance Vehicle Engineering (near Chard). They seem to have some decent Honda experience.

That was my issue, what with being just a little bit further SW than you!

I’d recommend Jesse Halford ( https://instagram.com/jcal_ecucalibration?igshid=1... ) he mapped my car and did a great job! He travels all around and goes into South Wales (which is where I went to see him)
