Peter been busy making moulds for a lightweight boot option and various other jobs including some paintwork.

Take one old clutch pedal foot rest, drill for weight saving and turn into something a bit more pleasing on the eye

Some internal parts and bumpers and side panel now painted

That colour is fantastic, even just the footrest is like a shot of eye caffeine!
Very impressive that you are making moulds and reforming panels. I suspect it is incredibly complicated to get 100%...

All credit to Peter on the actual hard work, my input is mostly financial and on the ideas/creative side we work together, but I think my quest for weight saving is probably driving him a bit mad.

Hoping it should be done end of this year / early next so on the road for spring 2020.

While initially I was a bit sceptical about this project...I have become interested in the vision and skills shown in fabricating all the various panels.
I had a classic Lotus Elan convertible a few years ago, so am quite familiar with fibreglass and even had to do a few minor repairs on the car, so I know what it is like to deal with.

Making those moulds must take so much time...you and your pal must have a lot more patience than most !!

A fascinating read !

Overdue an update, also posting updates now on Instagram Crafty1972 if anyone is interested.

Bit of heat insulating bling for the ECU which will be hidden away.

Peter been busy test fitting the screen, at the moment this more for getting a template for the bottom edge and securing it, the top edge is not currently high enough as plan is for it to meet the top of the shortened pillars.

Also working on rear view mirror height which not yet set.

Now painted

Instrument pod painted gloss black

Picked up 2nd hand exhaust and cat from a Beat that was being broken, good interim solution until I get a custom set up later.

Bonnet prep almost done and ready for paint

Battery now in situ up front

And what's the plan to finish off these pillars. Some form of cap or top stuck on?

We've yet to come up with the final shape but probably more rounded at the rear than they are now then weld a cap in place, finish off and paint black.

I'm thinking full face helmet in matching green. Not that it will save you if you get inverted. Your head might survive.
