Funny that you should post that but I had thought about buying this costume for the first drive

But yes I will look big in it and im not the PH powerfully built director type but an unfit 6 foot bloke just the right side of 50.
Is that the new NASCAR race uniform ?

I hope so, I probably need the Luigi green and blue for colour co-ordination purposes.

Mine will probably become available but I am not sure it still works. Will let you know.

Oh my, a mate of mine has a red one of these.

There can’t be many on the road.

Good luck with the MOT, and please get a picture of someone sat in it!
Can you get lowered seat rails?

Thanks, not quite there yet for MOT and tbh with the current situation and backlog not sure how easy it will be to get one...

I would like to get the seats lower which wont be easy with existing seats, tempted to try and find some cheap Elise S1 seats re-trim them zebra print and just bolt them directly to the floor at some point.

Next picture will have someone in it but here is one from earlier in the build.

In my limited experience, these types of projects are never Finished.

You always look at something and think
"Oh, if I just tweek that or change this"

"What if I took it to the next level?"

But that just keeps the thread running

I fit in the Beat, just.

Not a lot of leg room, may have to go for a smaller steering wheel.

Car needed a new full distributor, another expensive part from Japan... Leads were bespoke and made here, not bad for £35.

To take advantage of the air scoop in the boot we decided to move the filter to be underneath it. The original air intake needed blocking off, the 'uncle bens' lid turned out to be a perfect fit and it's now bonded on. Induction noise should be quite prominent at 8,500 rpm.

Hope to be starting the engine in the next few weeks, then MOT. Carbon bonnet and roll bar should arrive in next few months.

It can also help to bring the wheel rim further towards you, leaving more space for knees behind - so a dished wheel and/or a spacer hub. Does make it a bit of a stretch for the indicators/wipers, but can bring it out a bit without being beyond a finger's reach.

I believe that is a MOMO Trek! Still available to buy, not overly pretty IMO.

I suspect the boss would be the same as that from an EG chassis Civic. You could probably fit a DC2 Integra steering wheel!

Small but significant update.

It runs! not without a mishap initially though....

New (2nd hand) starter motor required as the original was dead on 1st attempt, also ECU capacitors had leaked so ECU had to be sent away to be repaired, also new distributor only available from Japan. Expensive month ranting

Finally engine in and turning over, then a knocking noise... heart sank, engine out again. Turns out had not torqued the cam belt tensioner fully so actually good to find that now. Engine back in, bled clutch and brakes and drove it around the car park, so first ever time under it's own power in my ownership and I suspect in 5 years or more!

No idea how to upload a short video onto here but if anyone is interested in seeing it move I have posted it on
instagram : beatchetta_pp1

There is still a fair bit of work to do but mostly tidying up now, more paintwork, roll bar to be fitted, then MOT in anticipation of the last significant part of the jigsaw the arrival of the carbon bonnet to from Japan.

Should be on the road just in time for winter, perfect for a car with no roof or real heater.
