I'll keep you all firmly across the situation as it develops, vis-à-vis the SpeckledJim:Pete private conversation, such as it isn't.

cant find the post where i think you said someone else will be doing the driving but why not race it yourself? Seems a lot of money spent for somebody else to have all the fun!
My guess is there's probably some stipulation in the rules that says you can't race if you've had brain-surgery or similar. Could be other reasons but just a guess.
Pretty sound reasoning rofl That aside, and I'm sure Pete's a handy driver, if you're going to enter a car that's been prepped to be quick then you may as well plug in a driver who can (a) get the most out of it (b) bring it back in one piece thanks to lots of skill & experience. Lots of Goodwood cars are owned by folks who don't race them because there's probably not much fun being seconds off the pace, but a lot of fun in seeing your car come home on the podium...

145 grand for an engine, thats a different world, always thought engines for Rally Escorts like the Millington Diamond were a lot of money at 20/30k but 145 grand, wow.

Is it so expensive due to rarity ? is it a new engine built from scratch or a rebuilt and modified original ?
You can spend £50k on a good but not exactly exotic 1970’s Porsche 911 engine. Apparently a rebuild of a 356 Carrera engine can set you back north of £100k....fiendishly complicated engine apparently. I.e. the engine in this car

https://www.hexagonclassics.com/car/porsche-356-c-...
As much of a Porsche lover as I am thats at least 400k too much, anyone whos paying that is fking barking imo.
Well it’s at Hexagon so it’s 10% too much and has been for sale for at least nine months. That said it’s a Carrera and RHD so easily worth £300k and probably £400k in this market

Doesn’t mean it’s not mad though!

It’s the old old story really.

In the beginning we didn’t know each other.

We’ve kept that up for quite a while.

And now, as the clock ticks ever onwards, our non-communication is becoming a bit of a habit. A thing.

Every day I don’t send you an email, and every day you don’t get it.

I type it very slowly, as I know you cannot read very quick. But I don’t send it.

Best,
Jim.

Ferrari 250 SWB Competizione in rhd, ex Rob Walker car. They only made 2 in rhd and the one I want is owned by Ross Brawn and he would never sell it. However I have just bought the very next best thing, more info coming soon. Mwahaha
