Hi Pete - you've mentioned the 1M a couple of times in passing in the thread, but not with much detail (unless I missed it!). As an owner myself, really interested to hear what you think? Sounds like it's getting under your skin.
Yeah it’s a very good car, it’s fun, nippy and aggressive looking. Honestly though, don’t understand where this ‘legend’ status has come from though. Just like my CGT & 997 GT3RS 4.0, like they’re good cars, no doubt, but there’s a load more that’ll thrash it.
However the looks I get in the 1M by proper petrolheads, and the feeling it gives me whenever I step out of it is something that can only be rivalled by the M2 (as an M2 owner myself I can happily pair them together in a celebrity deathmatch).
It’s a good car but I think the nostalgia and rarity is getting a bit stupid now. I went on Autotrader last night after sinking a few bottles of the good old ‘Tat’ whilst watching 2 fast 2 furious on sky and was like, “hmmmm I think I’ll treat myself to an R34 GTR Skyline”. £180,000 for a fking Nissan!!!!!! Have a word mate!
Like, they’re good but at the end of the day it’s just the RB26 engine you’re paying for and it’s just a 2.6 Twin Turbo. I can buy a 3.6 Twin Turbo McLaren and pocket myself £100k in the process.
Yeah things are getting stupid now.
Anyway, 1M, good car but over praised and over priced.
How do you like yours though?

Covid madness of people going 'sod it, only live once, let's go for it, get the car of my dreams'.

For a guy who has the choices you have, the fact you drive it at all is pretty high praise!

I agree that it’s probably over-hyped at the moment but not really surprising at it’s the 10 year anniversary this year AND they’re a proper limited-run car in the UK at least. History suggests it’s destined really, after the e30 and e46 CSL (both of which could be slightly accused of the same thing). What’s really interesting is that in the US and Mainland Europe they’re still really well regarded and only a little less pricey but still hold their value exceptionally well despite being available in much larger numbers. See a lot more modified ones abroad though.

As for me, I love the way it looks, love the way it drives (small, manual, three pedals and only two buttons to press), and love that people who know, KNOW, but people who don’t - think it’s just another BMW. That’s just how I like it. Mine’s got the Akro system and the M Performance seats which really add a dose of ‘special’ that the standard car is perhaps missing.

Look forward to hearing some more updates from you! thumbup

I'd love to see that deathmatch!

Does anyone know how rare 1Ms, E46 M3 CSLs, etc, relly are?

Anyway regardless of that, it's great to see you back on here. thumbup

I’ve got the Akro system (love the sound when I press the button) and the seats too, but to add to the list of rarity, mine is white (least picked colour) and it’s registered on a 12/12 plate and it’s only covered 7,500 miles from new!!! So yeah I’ll definitely be keeping mine as I reckon they’ll go stupid like the M3 CSL. I only paid £53k for mine and I reckon it’ll be £75k soon!!!!

Yeah nice car but I’d want an all black one, don’t think I could live with dog dick red. Plus red is my least favourite colour.

Pete if you wouldn't mind getting a Fast & Furious wing to the museum we could all relive our DvD heist days with dodgy flames down the side of Evos and Skylines!

But I have to agree with the prices of R34's, a friend of mine just sold his black Nur Spec for £130k without any bother. Bonkers price.

This is gonna melt your brain, but if someone offered me a mint R34 GTR V-Spec II Nur in Millennium Jade versus a choice of McLarens, I would almost certainly take the R34.

Mine's also Alpine White so sounds like ours are twins - deffo the best colour. Black unfortunately hides all the body vents and Valencia orange just isn't my cup of tea wink

I'm on 32k miles - but that was deliberate as I bought with a little more mileage because I don't want to be afraid to use it. Don't think you've got that problem though thumbup

I often pop on this thread in hope of seeing pics! Anyway, I'm with you Jimi, if I had the funds [which I most certainly don't], I'd have an R34 over almost anything - I love a cult car, it's an object of desire, I really want one!

I would take a lot of older cars over modern, from a driving fulfilment point of view I find the 90s stuff a nice balance before too many electrical aids, and when there were good cars and bad cars not just shades of good

On an emotional level, the R34 GTR just makes me giddy - any Skyline GTR does. I could also just sit and look at any of them, no McLaren this side of the F1 has that effect on me, no matter how fast or capable they are (to respond to Pete's point about picking a McLaren over the R34)

Somehow I managed to get a TVR into the London concours this year.

There was a Chiron there. The brake calipers must be 2ft high. Jaw dropping.

Excellent, looking forward to seeing the spec. I thought your garage 1.0 was pretty amazing but 2.0 is raising the bar!

Might be a bit of an assumption, but as someone who's driven most old school jap stuff, the skylines have never had that effect on me. Something like an NSX, yeah I can get pretty excited about, but GTRs never have appealed like that. It's probably as I was very much active in the scene when an r34 gtr was circa £20k, r32's could be bought in great condition for £5k etc. Seeing them go for £100k+ makes absolutely no sense, as a car to drive. At thay sort of value, sure it'll go in a collection as an asset, but it would never be something I would actually drive. They never were that great in my opinion (yeah modified they can be awesome, but that's not where the value is these days). If you're gonna have a drivers car these days then there are so many better options. They've just never given me thay fizz, and as I said, I've spent a lot of Time around them.
