I don’t think I have posted on this thread, but I have often read it in absolute awe of jot on the cars but the Man.

Pete if you are half as decent as it appears from your deluge of good deeds, then thank you.

You don’t me or anyone fighting morons for you, but Feck it I’m doing it anyway.

If you want to criticise him for his current decisions then read through the whole thread.

Read about his charity work.

Read about his kindness to strangers on the internet who have rides in dream cars thanks to him.

Have a look at yourself, if you still think he’s a prick and you’re so much better then thank you for being such a great person yourself, but maybe take a mark or two off for being nasty to a stranger for no real reason.

Other than that get the fk out, yes we have free speech and yes you can say what you want but don’t be the prick who makes this all stop. No one will thank you for it.

Lets get back to being nice, lets get back to being supportive, let’s get back to what PH used to be.
That'd be the charity work where now the position is 'if you want health care, pay for it yourself instead of getting it for free' as per his last response to me?

I'm not 'being nasty' and I get this thread is all about fellating Pete, but to say that Dubai is 'more equal' than here is bks.

People do pay their fair share over there, you want medical help, you pay the doctors and the hospitals, you want to use any of their devices, you pay. Nothing is free, so yeah……everyone pays their fair share. How hard is that to understand.
Except they don't 'pay their fair share'. They die if they can't afford to 'pay their fair share'.

Mate, give it a rest. You killed this thread and we were here to enjoy the cars and you just had to act the opinionated idiot. Well done and thanks for being 'that bloke'.
Don’t sweat it Pommy, normal service shall resume and I promise to post on here a bit more often. I’ve hardly been here much this year, been crazy busy and life gets in the way, but I’m back on it now.
Let the car talk commence rofl
Good stuff.

So what's on the 'to buy' list Pete?

Massively appreciate the help, especially with the schooling. So expect a message soon haha. I have quite a few friends over there and they have some crazy cars. So when I get over there it looks like the competition will be on. Hopefully you’ll still be there when I get there and we can have a beer or water.
We’ll be here a good while yet. We’ve been talking about leaving for a few years now but can’t bring ourselves to it! Ironically, I’m now working for a British company and visiting HQ each month, so I’m getting my fair share of GB. Spain is on our radar too (my company has a load of private international schools there too), so it could be a good option.

Back to DXB, definitely always up for a beer, water (narr) or coffee. On that note, there’s couple of mega cool car themed cafes here. My favourite (cars cafe at Dubai Autodrome) has a cool car wash facility whilst you’re enjoying a flat white and a sanger (My 991.2 getting some treatment!)

Mille Miglia cafe also pretty decent too.

As you’re probably already aware, there’s loads and loads of super car / hyper car garages around. Some locally ran and some by westerners. In general they are all friendly and allow the likes of me (and my son, who is arguably more car mad than me) have a good look around the cars. I love the fact we can both get up close and personal to some exotica / dream cars that would otherwise be impossible. You do see some horrendous stuff too…..there is your fair share of shoddy imports and one that sticks out was probably the worst condition Porsche Carrera GT I’ve ever seen. It wasn’t dumped (in typical Dubai fashion) it was at a legit garage, out the back, outside, with the cheaper stock. The poor thing was languishing in the sun, dust all over it, tatty car park dents, windows left, interior shot…..shocking for something so special.

Anyways, all the best.

This thread is now up to 309 pages with some really great content and pictures, God knows how many people have viewed it so a few posters that have opposing views shouldn't upset people so much. Everyone's different I guess.

Early footage of Pete arriving in Dubai has been leaked -

Good luck with the move though. I've spent a fair bit of time in Dubai and like the place - sounds like you've already got a nice set up with the ex-pat community too.

Thanks for sharing your journey thus far, one of very few I have followed with access to these kind of cars that isn't the top of a purple mushroom.

Look forward to seeing your new journey if you continue to post on here or instagram, but equally would understand if there aren't any!

I still have this in my possession, yes it’s with DK but I am debating whether I just ship it over and have it in my living room as artwork.
Can't this be registered in Dubai due to its age?

What about Portugal?... their NHR (non-habitual residency) tax scheme is pretty attractive and it's not too far from home. They are pretty mean-spirited when it comes to taxation on cars, but they are VERY classic car friendly.

I have a home out in Madeira and live there for half the year. Over the past three or four years, there has been a notable influx of wealthy young families moving to the island to give their kids a better life, enjoy the sub-tropical climate, closeness to the rest of Europe, and of course, the very favorable tax regimes.

Loads of downsides with Dubai but just being tax free and so easy to travel to south east Asia etc are massive pluses imo

Pete, in the best way possible you’ll hate living in Dubai, feckin 50 degrees just now, it’s not a place for chippy tit ginger northerners laugh

Listening to the latest Behind the Glass podcast, Sam just mentioned in an off-the-cuff comment that Pete’s DLS sold at DK for a MILLION OVER. I believe a DLS like Pete’s would have been around £1.5m so if it sold for £2.5m that’s certainly going to take the sting out of moving to Dubai! rofl

Yeah that was mentioned on the Collecting Addicts podcast too.

Given Pete put about 30 miles on it, that’s a considerable pounds per mile profit biggrin

Small world that’s by me, it’s having a load of garages built at the back of the garden right now (I’ve just walked past). Didn’t know it was up to sale, little much does come up for sale in the village.
