Good to hear progress being made on things like the site and garage!

The comment about the xj220 didn’t surprise me but did pose a question

Which cars have been the biggest disappointments? I can only imagine how hard it would be to get the keys to a million pound poster car and hate it!
The DB5 drives like a shower of st, the Zagato is a one trick pony, good sound but crap handling and slow.
I’m going to keep the DB5 as it’s our wedding car, get rid of the Zagato and look for a lovely 250 swb Berlinetta.
Then I’ll have 4 lovely classics, the DB5, DB2/4, 250 Lusso and the 250 swb.
I’ll still keep the supercars but they’re all getting boring now as they pretty much do the same.
The only ones I’ll keep on order will be the Singer DLS, Pista, Senna, Pista Spider and the Monza SP2.
I’ll take a break for a year or so until something comes out that takes my breath away.
Perhaps you need some time away from Supercars then, drive some mundane stuff for a bit ?

Haute Cusine is fine, but sometimes you need Beans on Toast or a Fry Up from a greasy spoon to hit the spot.

Drive a tired Passat TDi for a month.

You might be right. All supercars now are sub 3 seconds, so there’s very little in it.

I’ll swap you my full on bore fest of a 10 year old Accord Tourer for anything with 4 doors in your fleet for a month. That’ll make them all feel special again

The deal is you have to fix the rough running issue though. Only fair. wink

I often self justify to myself that owning supercars of today’s performance bracket must be nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. I don’t know if that’s really true but it stops me getting too hard on myself for not being able to afford these things. I just think driving a hot hatch at 9/10ths has got to be way better than driving a hyper car at 4/10ths all the time.

This is why I think you love the fiat so much. The only car you can use without fear of doing something daft, when making it sing out.

I can not stop thinking that a lovely 300SL would make a great addition to that?

Surely the classic you're missing as a zagato replacement is an open top cruiser for those days just like the last time you used it!

comes back to that 300SL or a C1 corvette maybe?

I used to have a 959 and an F40 on my wall, think the F40 has aged so much better, still like the 959 but it doesn't look as good as I remember.

And anyway, Pete has to get a Passat 100 Tdi, not even the 130 to use for a month as he has supercar overload, or even say a Peugeot 206, standard spec, silver, bit battered and only one working headlamp, supercar overload is a dangerous affliction, if you are getting bored with Ferraris the only medicine is a stbox for a while, we arent designed for constant gratification so we need to reset the baseline.

Its like exercise, its generally hateful but you feel better for it, same with food, over indulge at Christmas and you are craving salad, well, not really but you get the point.

Pete, not tempted by an original 695 Abarth? I love the fact the boot has to be left open as the engine is so big.

That would qualify as some kind of shed to make him yearn for the leathery embrace of even an Aston Martin, we have had two classic 500s, they are fun for about 2 minutes, then you realise that if it doesnt gas you, it will break down, or potentially you will end up being ingested and combusted by a Cayenne Turbo.

Price on Request for a bloody (EVOCAZIONE ffs) replica as well, I would be very wary of those arches, I know how these rust having spent many a happy hour welding these things and they didnt look like that ont he originals did they ? I reckon those wide tyres would make it bounce round corners, nice dials and impressive carburation though.

When I lived nr Cannes someone on my road had one of these when the prices were a fraction of this, and I never understood why - they sounds amazing, look amazing, rarer than so many other Prancing Horses... now people seem to have realised!

Pete, have you considered investing something to the Bloodhound SSC project? I am not certain of the tax exemptions, but if you could it would make for a very interesting thread!

Yeah...Take a break from the plastic fantastic and buy some heavy metal.

https://www.prewarcar.com/191935-bentley-4-5litre-...

Ridiculously cool.

I'd bet my left jacob that it would be an absolute hoot to drive......My idea of smiles per miles.

You know it makes sense.

Pete,

Is this wizardry true? What is the point? Is it to sign all those speeding tickets?

I’m sure that the OP must get a bit fed up with getting recommendations on what he should buy, as he probably already has quite an extensive shopping list but that Bentley? fk yeah cool

I'm trying to think of any Aston that didn't have a pen when new! Getting the feckers out once they've been put in the wrong way is one of life's hardest challenges.

Love it, just careful it doesn't have any other Christine like qualities!

Haha, well as long as they look after you then it is all good. Don't imagine we have anything that would tempt you at the moment hehe although we do occasionally get a special/interesting Ford through and I do love dealing with those.
I don’t know where you work so I can’t comment on that. Put in a link on here please and I’ll take a look.
Not sure I can put a link on with PH self promoting rules, but it's in my profile. I'd be very surprised if anything took your fancy, although with recent posts I'm sure we've got something that could give you a more 'ordinary' car experience for a bit wink

That said, the boss' other company does have an ex Ford Motorsport, low mileage Sierra RS 500 Cosworth that will be up for sale next month once preparation is finished. Reading your posts it might not be your cup of tea, but is driving our Ford fanatics wild hehe

As for the Bentley that Mr Roper put up, oof. I remember driving back from a LeMans Classic a few years ago and there were two similar ones in convoy, looked epic.
