You’re getting some awful advice in here.

If you’re wanting to push the ko3s you will benefit from a decat. The ‘stage 2’ level of tune requires an updated downpipe and cat/decat (the stock one is awfully small). They are incredibly small turbos and need a lot of boost thrown at them to achieve good stage 2 figures (~230hp), I.e. lots of heat....decat helps.

You will/should not notice any discernible difference in ‘lag’ from a FMIC on a ko3s turbo. They’re so small you could spool it with a fart.

You do not need any ‘uprated internals’ for a ko4, certainly not ‘forged pistons’ (the rods are the weak component of 1.8t and the pistons are already forged by mahle).

For 312mm brake conversion you only need the Caliper carriers and discs, not the whole caliper (the piston assembly is the same).
BUT, LCR Brembos usually trade for ~£300 which is an absolute bargain.

I agree with all of this apart from the FMIC. Maybe it was just the THS which was huge and twin pass, but lag was introduced. It completely changed the powerband. So much so it was removed. Which did annoy me as you have to butcher the crash bar and inner bumper plastic.

Do you have VCDS lite? It’s a great tool. The FMIC definitely produced lower intake temps. And was quicker to cool, but my previous suggestion of trying to increase flow over the existing SMIC should be enough for a K03S. Remove the bumper grill cover, make sure the cowl is there, seal it to the I/C (i just used tape), and drill holes in the rear arch liner to increase air flow.

Also buy a new 710N from VW TPS. Don’t bother with aftermarket DV’s. They are good enough for the RS6.... also make sure you remove the N249. It makes the DV operation much crisper.

Mine was a 5 door Jazz Blue with the early heated Recaros. It was lovely. I gave it to my girlfriend when I got my work car. She sold it to a gent off CGTI to get a Mini Cooker S. I’m gutted now. It was a great car that let me hone my spannering skills.

Looks good. Number plate needs dropping a couple of mm on the right and the exhaust needs centralising smile Just to make it 100%

Couldn't agree more.

Alot of people talking nonsense including some well known bsers.. anyway;

OP has a AUM if i recall correctly so people telling him to stick with the ko3 he already has a ko3s. Ko3 is ste and from the first batch of 1.8t.

If he wants 240bhp I second the advice above.

Decat pipe
Aftermarket exhaust
Cold air intake
Uprated diverter valve from vw (no aftermarket crap)
New clutch and flywheel
Front mount intercooler

A reputable tuner ( i recommend revo personally) and he will see 240 easy.

Quickest way is to sell and buy a cupra r 225 but where is the fun in that.
