Has anyone got any thoughts on a larger side mount intercooler on the 1.8t golf has a standard side mount I know everyone is going to say front mount but think they look ugly also have to chop the bumper up don't need crazy power looking at about 230 bhp

Golf's looking nice...stop with the exterior now before you over do it!!
With the front mount (and I know you've already got one but you could punt it on)
For the mk4 they do 'twin pass' or whatever they call them where the input and output are on the same side enabling you to still use existing pipework routes and not chop st out of your front bumper.
I ran an old aeb in a passat that just had minimal mods-upsolute map(like wow!!! What an amazing difference),forge dv,n75j.
It went like a scolded cat for under 200bhp and the smic coped fine for many years.
on the road your going be on full boost for only seconds at a time so unless you go above stg1 I would stick to standard for now?

Yes bud I am done with the outside now I do have a front mount which I am going to sell with all the pipe work I think a front mount is really only required if your going stage 2 I love the oem +look and a big fat front mount looks terrible think I am going for a larger side mount for 80 pounds I think it might help a bit
