Yes, I am afraid to say that yes, both wing mirrors have connected with both sides of the garage, the rear bumper is used as a bumper.
I will say the Avons were better than the energy efficient / green tyres that were on the car when I bought it, they improved your fuel economy by not letting open throttle unless you wanted wheelspin, went slowly around corners unless you wanted understeer etc.
Sorry to hear your OH keeps bumping into the garage, hope she doesn't do any damageI will say the Avons were better than the energy efficient / green tyres that were on the car when I bought it, they improved your fuel economy by not letting open throttle unless you wanted wheelspin, went slowly around corners unless you wanted understeer etc.

Hi, nice tidy car for the price. We've got the same engine in our 56 plate Focus Ghia that we've had for eight years and put 86,000miles on, if you haven't done the glow plugs yet you will need an 8mm glow plug socket, a normal 8mm deep socket won't do it, as already stated they're right at the front of the engine and easily accessible, you'll need to undo the dipstick bracket to get to one of them. A nice and easy to do upgrade is the EGR blank, two bolts and a bit of a sand off and clean, put the plate in and tighten up the bolts, job jobbed, makes them a much nicer car to drive, idles much smoother and pulls from a couple of hundred RPM lower, it may or may not throw up and EML after stating EGR solenoid fail, just delete it. Knocking from front suspension is most likely either drop links, easy and cheap fix, or lower control arms, easy but around £70 per side. If it feels rough at idle and gear changes can be rough/feels like the engine is rocking, then drivers side engine mount, easy to replace IIRC around £70-£80 for a good new one, and/or lower torque mount, at that mileage I'd do both as they're not expensive and will improve the cars driving/idle, lower torque mount will need the cat support bracket undoing but it's not too difficult but is fiddly!! All mk2 Foci are very temperamental with voltage, if the battery gets low or the alternator starts to fail it'll throw up EML lights and battery check. Also worth checking your sump for rust, they do like to rust!!! If it's solid but blooming up just rub it back, Hydrate 80 it and then spray high temp engine paint over it!!! HTH!!

Glad to see this is still running well.My friend's is still going strong too. Looks nearly identical to yours.
I'm currently on the lookout for a cheap runaround, so will take a look at these.

A measly 123,000, bought at 37,000 one owner, full Ford history, blah blah blah, didn't stop us from having issues, two MAF's (wrong) two memory updates (wrong), there was something else too but I can't remember what, ended up being a small loom from the firewall to the fan and MAF, a whole £12.95 for it after spending about £600!!!! But listen, they're a great engine with loads of torque, and the Focus is a great handling mile muncher, this is our third Focus and I do the vast majority of work on it, later this year I'm doing a rear suspension bush overhaul and replacing all the top mounts. Feel free to email me, if I can help I will!!!
Thanks Bobberoo. Quite a few people have said the 1.8tdci is one of the best engines they did. I'm really pleased with this one, it's nice to drive especially now it's got new tyres on it. It's the best car I've owned. What were your previous Foci?Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
