You do realise that your car is now a Teenager! That’s when the troubles begin.

That orange light on the speedo says you're right!

If you mean the EML it's a hangover from the turbo hose, something to do with the EGR valve but as its not giving any trouble I've left it, being an 07 diesel it won't fail the MOT on it.

I'd have liked to have had a go myself but haven't much in the way of facilities unfortunately

Or, ah, it's only a rear spring, won't take long, how hard can it be?

In the end I paid a garage to replace the rear antiroll bar links, the spring, the shock mounts, something else, and I still have the spring compressors to remind me of my endeavours. And the rear antiroll bar links needed replacing every 2 years after that..

Looking at an old bill which came with the Focus it appears the N/S/F droplink lasted less than 2 years as it was replaced in June 2018.

Same time to wear out as just about every suspension part I got through, I'm wondering if you might be better off with either a Ford part or something uprated?

S max giving me some amazing fuel economy at the moment! Normally it's about a tank every 2 weeks - I last filled up just before... and I still have a bit left! (I take the slightly scenic route to drop food off at my mother's)

I do miss my focus, it was more engaging to drive, you had to grab it by the scruff of the neck and push it around, I could go all the way to 7k rpm and it relished them. Flooring it in second would give a good surge, getting giggles from PG Jr, and her shrieking "again, again".

S max is far more relaxed, you just look at the loud pedal, and then realize your doing the limit, the steering is predictable and just feels right, it calls for a more gentle drive. I have done a 40 mile trip without going over 2k rpm, turbo kicks in far earlier than I thought, so 6th gear 70mph is like 1.9k. My left arm is getting a workout with the gears though! It is really picky in having to be in the correct gear. Flooring it gets a few giggles, but doesn't get the same results.

Rev wise, it just seems to loose power from about 3,5k. I'll need to get an rx7 or something to use my need for revs. Oh, and 2 new tyres at 120 a corner ain't cheap...

Nowadays instead of taking the twisty roads, I'll find myself on the motorway ish roads, even though its longer... Where do I hand in my PH card?

Seeing this reminds me the post guys returned the package, will resend.

Thank you PG. Glad to hear the S Max is going well. I think OE quality parts do last better, given the date on the invoice I suspect it was done to get it through the MOT, I'm wondering if it was a cheap aftermarket part fitted given the time it lasted, though I know it's a common problem with Foci.

The Focus had its first decent trip since lockdown today, down to Skegness and Wainfleet to get some photos. 150+ mile round trip.

Now that lockdown restrictions are finally easing hopefully I will be able to do a few more long runs over the summer, on the list at the moment are (hopefully) a few days in Dover which should have happened in May, a trip to Witley Court, Cheddar Gorge and Framlingham Castle.

A picture I've wanted to get for ages, the Focus with the bridge at Ironbridge in the background.
I was going to say park on the Station hotel car park the other side of the river but you dropped on there, that lay-by is usually full of bikes.

I grew up in Coalport, the next village down river.
Thanks, if I am in the area again I will do that, though I'm hoping to get to the Severn Valley Railway later in the year when things start opening up again
You can get on the Severn Valley at Kiddiminster or Bridgnorth. You can hop one and off the train at the various stations, if you time it right you may be able to get on something like the flying Scotsman.

It's amazing what can be fitted in, an old double mattress and bench ready for the tip tomorrow. Also now covered 24000 miles since purchase.
