£2750, 171k.

These were the sales pics.

It ticked many boxes. Auto, leather, good sound system and in my man maths head I though the wife would be thrilled.

She wasn't. I'm not sure if it's the sheer size, the irritating non-stop "bong" and Suspension fault Max Speed 30MPH or the disgusting smell of cigarette smoke that put her off though.

It was showing C1A36 - Compresor exhaust valve fault

Which came on as soon as cleared even with engine off.

This is usually associated with the suspension compressor being replaced with the latest more reliable AMK unit and not programmed.

I wasn't convinced.

I knew it couldn't be major as the fault came back without being commanded to release suspension pressure.

Anyway strip compressor cover off and oh look a new looking AMK compressor.

Surely not I thought.

However I then saw this:

Quick chop out and solder:

And it's fixed.

The brakes need attention. I suspect it's the rear shoes that are irriatingly squeaky around corners.

There's a small suspension knock which I believe is an ARB bush.

The inner tyres do show wear inside but the previous owner drove around for months with it in off road height due to the above so I will get the niggles sorted and get it aligned.

The HK sound system is great. Just needs a damned good clean, I am thinking of doing the wheels grey as they need a refurb.

I want to colour code the trim and am wondering if this will be good for resale as I really like it so am thinking of selling and buying a newer lower miles one!

Having had a number of LR's, I've always hankered after a nice D3. When I came out of my company car I decided to purchase a cheap(ish) daily/family wagon. First point of call was the D3 classifieds, but I couldn't find a decent one anywhere near budget - £6-7,000. In the end I went Plan B (as I have previous experience of them) and bought a very nice C6 Allroad.

If you are handy with the hammer or have a friendly garage this could be a good buy. Watching with interest.....

I run a full time garage and also do bodywork so it doesnt scare me.

There is a ticking which sounds exactly like an exhaust manifold leak so i need to investigate.

Im going to ask the old bodywork guy down the road if he fancies prepping these plastics. If he does Ill get him to start.

I just dont have the time right now.

It does what I want it to very well.

Still not convinced I want to keep it. There is a tapping on the engine when warm which I suspect is an injector blowing by..

5k miles on and tapping sourced to an exhaust so not bothered until it gets worse.

Has been throwing up F and engine, suspension, HDC,parking brake etc fault which is annoying g when towing. Doesn't happen all the time but will happen repeatedly about 6 times then stop.

All faults in the systems moan invalid data from engine ECU.

Engine ECU says low fuel pressure. I actually strongly suspect the lift lump so tomorrow I will get the scope out and diagnose.

I will also be flushing the gearbox and sticking in a new filter this week alongside giving it a check over and seeing if there is play in suspension if not I will be getting it aligned as it is out.

Its grown on me immensely and although the head is saying get a Land Cruiser, the heart says Landy.

I am taking it to Belgium Saturday. Going with another couple. My friend suggested taking his 2015 1 series, his wife said it would be cramped and I agree. The wife said take the Fiat Qubo, I disagreed.

Greenflag phoned and I've booked the Disco on the train.

The air suspension is one of my favourite things.
