I still need to upload the Redish pictures, I'll get around to it.

One picture that has become relevant is the rear off side caliper. Recently the car developed a slight vibration when driving normally, came and went. Thought it was odd but as it disappeared I thought not much of it. The second time it did it on the way to Brecon for an evening out I pulled over to investigate. I couldn't see anything but when I went to the back of the car on the off side the heat was very noticeable coming from that side wheel. It seems that the caliper has seized, as we know from the inspection. The caliper wasn't totally seized so got it home and a new caliper is now on order ready to be fitted on Friday along with a full brake fluid service.

The sticking caliper I'm pretty certain has been seized for a while which will no doubt have been contributing toward the mpg issue so I'll be interested to see any improvement after Friday.

Well after using the BM for a while now and having got the issues sorted - new rear caliper and rear pads, 4 new tyres and a new battery the reason for buying the car that I eluded to at the beginning of the thread has somewhat evaporated.

The European tour is still happening but the couple (with the S4) that were coming no longer are. This kind of means that the E92 is superfluous as; without another fast GT car coming along I'm more than happy to take my Rover.

TL;DR If anyone wants a very nice N52 equipped 330i drop me a PM.

Good cars these that have aged really well to my eyes.

I had an E90 330i and loved that car, it was really reliable and didn’t cost a bomb to run. Fuel around town was low 20’s but low 30’s was easily achievable. The ride was a bit fidgety but it sounded pretty good.

The N52 engine is great (barring the cost of the electric water pump). eek

I'm off to look at a 55 plate E90 330i tomorrow - fingers crossed!

Mine was an 06 and was great. Only unexpected issue was VANOS actuators which was £300 to sort. Everything else was consumables. That and cosmetic upgrades (wheel refrub, bumpers repainted etc). The Le Mans blue with lemon leather looked great.

Le Mans blue/lemon leather is my favourite combo as well for sure. cool

Good luck Mr Tidy and I know you've fancied a 330i for a while, let us know how you get on. smile

Have had a rear pad wear sensor message on the iDrive for the past few weeks. Turned out to be a knackered wear sensor which was stopping me notifying car know the pads had indeed been changed. Easy enough job today and the replacement lead was only £10.07

The problem, not sure how that happened

So inner arch liner off and the end of the cable was easily visible. The white connector here, I believe the grey is the abs sensor.

Easily routed under the top arm out to the hub and then secured on the caliper and put in place in the pad. A quick 25 min job and now I have no warning codes, apart from low washer fluid which was quickly sorted by 5l of Autoglym screen wash. One step closer to being ready for the Euro trip smile

I bought it. laugh

Sparkling Graphite with beige leather and wood trim, so just right at my age! frown

Apologies to the OP for getting slightly off-track, but a 330i E9* is a great car.

Keep an eye on / check the fuel tank vent hose.
Post 07 it should have a revised part, but mine didn’t get it, and now pisses fuel out when the tank is full.
BMW not interested in goodwill due to age and it isn’t a recall item, although I’ve reported it to VOSA.
Hose is cheap but needs exhaust, prop and tank dropping to change, although some say you can just drop one side, some have snapped the pipe stub at the tank.

Strange you mention that, the E91 325i I just sold used to stink of petrol if I filled it more than about 3/4 of a tank.

Thankfully my 330i doesn't!
