I hope so anyway

I'm going to try a manual boost controller first, once I upgrade my intercooler. I know it's happy with 15psi, I just want to maintain that boost level. Unless boost cut is rpm dependent on this ecu biggrin

How's it going? Did you get this mapped?
Not yet, I have a base to build from waiting to get loaded. I can't do anything until my intercooler arrives because of the inlet temps. would be a waste of time to start doing anything before I do everything else smile

It's a custom air-water-air cooler.

Again, this is such a cool wee car. Could you give a bit more info on your supercharged 106 diesel?
Yeah so I supercharged the 106 diesel for racing during 2019 just to prove if I could to it reliably.

So without the supercharger, it made 70hp, with the supercharge it made... 70hp. It moved where the peak hp occurred by 2000rpm! Which was a massive 70ft.lb torque increase at 2200rpm. Useless for track though hahaha!

So for this year, it's getting a turbocharger, so I'll be much closer to 120hp with it. I'm making the Peugeot competitive this year.

Haha, that's pretty interesting! Do you reckon the fuel pump was maxed out, or does it have an upgraded pump?

I used to have a 106 diesel and always wondered about 'charging it.

No, the charger was too small. smile

The standard Bosch 8mm pump is probably good for about 100hp.

The big problem is space, there's simply no room for a bigger supercharger in there without removing the alternator (which I had to do) or fitting a really long shaft to reach a bigger charger.

I ran no intercooler either, inlet temps regularly went over 100 degress c. oops haha.

Wow, it's been a while.

Nothing has changed at all, no faults to report, apart from being at 45,000km on the odometer! biggrin

Still nobody brave enough to import another????

Peugeot 106 is now turbo powered (GT1756V) too. Still slow.

Well... okay, might have one small modification lined up IF i can make it fit, it should be super effective.

Of course as you can see, it's a Lotus charge cooler from an Esprit. The angles of the inlet and outlet are about right, and I reckon for road use even just filling it with water and not circulating it would be enough to keep the inlet temps in check. I do plan to fit a small pump and have some water circulating.

It's just finding the time to do it, I've got more sprints coming up and need to sort out my Peugeot reliability issues. biggrin

Interesting!
Good to see this car is going. I still hanker after one of these. How easy is it to get parts form them? Last time I had a JDM I ended up shipping in parts from this lot:

https://www.amayama.com/en
Haha I suspect its going to run for a long time as well.

Don't know, haven't needed any parts yet, everything is still as it left the factory in 2016. Even the brake pads still have plenty on them.

From a glance it looks like it shares lots with Suzuki's here (shock) typical Suzuki really.

Brakes etc look identical to the Ignis sport, suspect the struts are very similar as well although I've not looked at the part number.

Using oil filter for a cappuccino, although the filters seem to be the same size across most small Suzuki engines.

One thing I do need, is an interior cabin filter because it's starting to turn black! I'll probably end up just cutting down one from another model though.

I've been side tracked a bit by my new Jimny as well.

Thats insane biggrin Love these little Kei cars, if I wasnt such a freakish giant I'd love one for a daily, can get some really interesting cars
I've had 3 mates in the car, all well over 6 foot and there's still a bit of head room and loads of leg room. The cost of the passenger space is the boot, but you can still get 4 crates of bud in there... (Other beers are available)

Recaro sell lowering frames for the front so you can lower the seat either 1 or 2 inches.

Might be a challenge in older Kei cars though, AZ1 or beat etc as their seats are pretty much already on the floor lol.

If you can find someone who has a Kei car, definitely give it a go.

Not sure if it's been asked but has the Alto seen a track yet?

I rented one of these (as well as an S660 and a Jimny) for a day in Japan last time I was there and it was incredibly fun. The gearing was wonderfully short so it felt really nippy. I've been dying to get one in the UK ever since but I don't fancy the hassle of importing it my self at the moment, how long did it take you to get the car on the road from winning the auction?
I can do one better than that, I've used it for competition on track. Timed sprint in the Super Lap Scotland championship.

Excuse the dodgy numbers, I forgot to take my proper ones with me on that day and had to make something up using white tape hahah!

I think it was 5 months from winning the bid to me getting it home, normally this only takes 3 months (it was 3 months before it landed). The delay was trying to convert the speedo to mph. Which even with a CAN converter didn't work, even with custom programming. so had to get Lockwood dials to develop and make a new dial face - so no need for anyone else importing one to go through that as they can just order the dial face for £60 or whatever it's listed at now.

Hey Martin, any updates?
Nope biggrin

New discs and pads from Japan. Dixcel. Turns out the pads are the same as Daihatsu Copen when I checked the dimensions. I'm not sure about the discs. I have a feeling they're also similar though.

Needing tyres now too, can't get any in the OE size so will have to go down to 165/50/15 I think.

I've got too many other projects on to play about with it at the moment. I've got my 1.3 Rallye 106 engine being rebuilt and the shell will be going for a full inside and outside respray, I've got a 1.1 turbo 106 in constant development for racing, My Jag V12 is finally getting some work and my space frame is getting a built Volvo Whiteblock and converted from what appears to be an NHRA style kit frame into something which is actually compliant with MSUK regs.

My SJ Jimny is needing wheel bearings and all 6 UJ's replaced, The engine is now making a very very slight tap coming from the top end. With it being a 2 stroke it's probably needing a top end rebuild aka new rings and maybe pistons. It's 42 years old after all and the engine has never been apart.

My Hijet is needing some bodywork done around the windscreen, few small rust bubbles coming through behind the seal. And a good tune up.

So the daily needs to stay a daily. Just add fuel and all that :P
