Facebook marketplace Lexus RX400h SE-L, what could go wrong?

Have the dealer admitted that one of their salespeople's email account was taken over ? And do you still have the email from the fraudster with the payment details ?
If it was definitely that their account was hacked, and the payment scam email definitely originated from their account, then I don't see how the dealer can possibly do anything other than swallow this... Unless they'd previously sent you some sort of message saying "we will never send payment details via email" ?
When the email came through was it from the dealers email address or another email?
Were the bank details on headed paper as an attachment to the email or in the text body?
Have your bank said what additional measures you should have taken?
I really hope you can get this resolved as it must be a very stressful time.
I would certainly take legal advice and sadly be prepared to go to court as i doubt the dealer will admit responsibility.

It did all get sorted in the end, we agreed to a small (£2k approx) discount on the car, then the day before we picked it up the bank told us we were getting the money back after I disputed the initial denial.
So it worked out ok in the end!
Good news. Still, must of been a bit of a worry at the time. So it worked out ok in the end!
