In fairness, there's a difference between Chassis and Vehicle Dynamics at JLR. The Chassis guys are component engineers. I don't believe these guys are in Vehicle Dynamics.....and I'd say that actually most JLR stuff steers pretty well!
I'm only jesting, after all I own two current JLR products and I used to be a dynamics engineer so they can't be that bad Max_Torque said:
From the facebook video of the crash, looks a lot like you just locked the wheel and planted your foot. If you want her to dance then just sending drive to the rear is clearly not enough, get that weight moving, make it work for you. Is it an open diff at the back?
always easy to be an armchair pundit though
Any updates?
Looks like you guys have got some competition (though perhaps not quite the same budget) : https://www.topgear.com/car-news/retro/restomod-we...

Never seen someone go to the trouble of converting a live axle into wishbone. Cant quite see how the front axles pass through the coilover.Looks like you guys have got some competition (though perhaps not quite the same budget) : https://www.topgear.com/car-news/retro/restomod-we...

I wonder if this is still alive? Hope so as it’s one of the more fun threads. Be nice to know if it’s now a 1400kg, 550bhp track weapon!
Weirdly, I looked up their Instagram yesterday as I saw a V8 in the gym car park.Unfortunately the last post/update was over a year ago and the car was in its crashed state, so it doesn’t look promising.

This was the last photo seen of it
They thought it was only cosmetic and did have it running again in the RWD only form, but radio silence ever since. Maybe that’s the end of the story or maybe like many car projects, other priorities in life have taken over.
Thanks Dan, that's much appreciated. Hmm, yes, life often gets in the way! They thought it was only cosmetic and did have it running again in the RWD only form, but radio silence ever since. Maybe that’s the end of the story or maybe like many car projects, other priorities in life have taken over.
Well well, its been a little while hasn't it
Lots has changed with job changes, house moves and life for all 3 of us.
However the range racer is not dead....VERY neglected and still looking sad from its bump on the nose but not yet dead.
We have treated her to some parts to repair the damage and some new coil overs to finally get rid of the far too soft air springs (who knew someone made coilovers for range rovers?!
We plan on getting back to it through 2023, dont expect rapid progress but its time we got this stupid project back on track ASAP.
Hope you are all have kept well!

Great work by @charlie-5mkmt have enjoyed reading the whole story in two sittings. Brought here by link in Sith & Sniff so credit them with getting me back. This thread mercifully light on snarky comments so may even return.
Chapeau! Charlie
Bookmarked coilovers for my own bog-standard L322.
