Hopefully you can get it sorted, but I guess the cost will be quite significant?? Fingers crossed for you!

Anybody know what the correct level is for the hydraulic fluid bottle? The handbook doesn't provide an indication of where the mark is.

Passenger side window has begun to self-activate, hopefully this isn't the harbinger of wiring loom trouble!

Sorry I haven't replied to your earlier question - car is away being patched up, and has been for a while, so I can't check. No idea what the bill will look like - it's a garage I haven't used before plus they're getting a guy in to do the welding almost as a hobby. I'm hoping that'll be good for my wallet.

I've had the window thing before. I suspect - for mine - that it's likely damp in the window switches. Although I could easily be wrong!

No worries, good to hear from you. Hope the welding works out for you. Just had a bit of welding done on my car's front anti-roll bar bracket which was coming adrift. Both exhaust hangers had perished too. Now the car isn't crunching and clunking as it goes along which is nice.
Got a replacement window switch coming for the random dropping. My car gets a little steamy on the inside too. It seems like an easy fix on YouTube but I'm glad I'll have some wood to touch for luck!
Next job will be to replace the o/s wing. N/s one was done last year. Managed to get an original corrosion-free one which needless to say I absolutely slathered with Dinitrol anti-rust before rattlecanning it. It's about as far from a good job as you could imagine but as long as it stays solid I'm happy and so far so good.
The o/s wing currently in place is vented. Not sure why as my car is an E300 non-turbo diesel. Asking Frau Benz to source me a non-vented one, which should be cheaper. The new vented wings she gets from a German manufacturer are nice apparently but they're also £230 a pop.
Since having the trans fluid replaced last year by my local one-man garage the car has developed flaring on upshifts. A mate who used to work in a Benz dealership back in the day told me that these gearboxes are picky about having the right ATF in them. Wondering if it's worth putting it back in for that job. I can get round it by tapping off when the shift is about to happen but with the hills round my way tapping off in a non-TD 124 diesel is a risky business. hehe

I know exactly what you mean!

In terms of the wing, you're talking about the (RHD) drivers side wing, yes? In which case the vented wing is original. The air box breathes through it.

Yes, driver's side. Oh, interesting, I thought the vented wings were only on the turbodiesels. Happy to bow to your superior knowledge! beer
