I just discovered this thread, and read it all, thanks to the owner for sharing the information.
The only magazine I had covering the W8 in the 80s was "Chrome & Flames" and, being very V8 and US biased,
they praised it a lot, in retrospective I doubt that any writer ever saw it in the flesh and it was all press material,
but it was poster-and dreamcar material for sure, with those performance figures and "year 2000" styling.
I did not doubt the motor performance as I was a big Drag Race fan then ( still am)
and know a bit about US V8 performance when assembled and tuned by an expert.
The Twin Turbo approach was quite unique to the V8 by then, it took decades until Drag Racers realized
what could be boosted out of a V8, this concept is very successful now with Pro Mods doing mid-5s @ 270+mph.
BTT : Are the ingition coils part of an electromotive TEC system ?
