Ahh shame, hopefully the new owner will keep this thread updated.
Any plans for another car?
Hopefully; the new owners on these forums Any plans for another car?
Re new car; not fully sure yet, but thinking it'll be another 7'er; but either an E65 750i or an F01 730D. Just need to test drive them and get better ideas

I was shocked when I saw it for sale. What an awesome example though, hope you put a new thread up with your next project
Think a lot of folk were; but sometimes it's the right time to sell a car & for me, this was it.Glad it's gone to a good home...
And yes; I'll soon start a new thread when I've decided what car I'm going for
Just thought I'd drop a note onto this thread as I have started a new one to continue the story
It can be found here: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Thanks again to Dan, the car is great and drove home faultlessly.
Cheers, Matt

Just round this thread and read through it last night. It is great to see what someone has done before and also someone who uses the autoglym snow foam too. I used to have a bmw f01 Dan, so if you ever need any front brand discs then I have a pair that I never fitted to me 730d F01.
Anyway, back to the E39, other than inside the arches are there any important places to cover with the under seal? I have just imported a 540i which is immaculate underneath and want to keep it that way for as long as is feasible.
I have undersealed my SUV’s previously but these were much easier to get underneath!
Photos attached for reference.

Thanks for the offer; I've literally just fitted all new Brembo discs & Textar pads to my F01!
Ref the undersealing; I'd do what I did and that's all wheel arch liners out, thoroughly wash, degrease and dry properly and then under seal them inc the inner arch lip; do the sill ends at the same time whilst the arch liners are off
Because with the liners though; with age and heat, they crumble; I fitted brand new fronts to my touring but the rears are NLA unfortunately!
I'd also remove the jack pads, spray as much underseal in there as you can, all directions and then seal off for it to cure and then fit new jack pads etc
Everywhere else is fine really; they're the main locations for rust forming on the E39s, saloons & tourings
