One thing you definitely won’t enjoy is the 50 miles of average speed cameras from Stonehaven to Dundee. No chance of a swift start to the journey home.
That is why he should go via Glenshee

Is it the red One with gold wheels?

Buying a car from Scotland?

Check for rust.

And then check again, and again.

Oh, and make sure there's no rust... tongue out
3 places I refuse to buy a car from. Bradford, Birmingham and Scotland.

I'd also add Southall. Ignored every bit of my own advice and rules and paid for it badly.

The adventure begins, this one courtesy of public transport...

I'd share the arbitrary picture of the train station, but obviously PH still uses thumbsnap and its 2MB limit and I can't be bothered to resize it...

Glenshee eh? scratchchin

So this Brera, how old is it?

I'm sure you know, distance from purchase of an Alfa to breakdown, has many factors, age being one of them. But being an Alfa, it can be brand new or 40 years old... hehe

Forecast is good Glenshe a must

Consider Edinburgh to Moffat on the 701, nice driving road(few pot holes at the moment), brings you out further down the M74

Seen a few posts about cars purchased from Scotland over the years. One I remember distinctly is an e36 M3 that looked lovely on the surface but underneath resembled something that had been under the sea for the last 10 years. Definitely need to be careful.
That wasn't quite the point, but yes - need to be careful!
The Scots are rather close to a Pound Note. Badly looked after rather bad weather maybe.

I did think of suggesting it, but he’s already got a 500 mile trip!

Took a while for payment to show up, so we're taking a relatively direct route home... It was inevitable really...

That’s a decent drive home. By the time you get to Edinburgh you’ll only have 3/4 of your journey left wink

I've done that trip a few times ending up in Cambridgeshire, I always come across the west side of the country and across the A66, its a really nice trip although an 8 straight drive back. Have fun smile

A lucky escape for Scotland then.

Great buy OP, those alloys are superb on it... what was the route home and how many stops be it planned or unplanned?

RE the rusty cars. I've purchased two from Scotland. A 405 mi16 and the shonky Impreza. Both were rust buckets. I'll never buy another car from Scotland.

Well we stopped there to grab some 'lunch', and then stopped at a BP once we'd emptied the tank.

Actual driving time was about 7h15 back to Northampton train station, we copped out of anything overly scenic, came down the M6 mostly.

Car ran well, it really is poor on fuel and it's not a Busso engine note wise, but it's remarkably refined on the motorway, very little wind noise, composed etc.

Car looks in fine fettle underneath, it's been a London car most of its life.

Will post more tomorrow smile

But according to Davie above, it's a lucky escape for Scotland. I can only assume they don't like their rust leaving.

I do like the Brera. Very purposeful styling especially head on with those triple light units. Nice find.

If that Brera has been owned by a chap called Lee, given you’ve posted pics of the Yellow Integrale I suspect it will have been, you will have a good car there.

Super super Anal and he has owned the Lancia longer than I remember.
