Right, finally good news for the Mustang.

Straightliners are up and running again and i have the car booked for Sunday 5th July for top speed runs at Elvington.

Fingers crossed.

I taxed the car at the start of the month and was able to get in some final data logging for the water/meth and everything is looking good.

The Michelins feel good and the car hooks very well from 20/30 mph so i feel more confident now with getting the power down in the dry.

During last month i had nothing to do on the Mustang and the sun came out for a while so the Westfield got its neck rung a few times, 8000rpm on carbs.

July needs to hurry up and get here fast.

Just a week now until Elvington.

Had the car out last weekend for a run out with the Yorkshire Supercar owners club. Car got a good thrashing and behaved with all temps staying good.

Well, finally got to have another go at top speed runs. Day didn't pan out as i expected.

When i got in the car this morning to set off the clutch pedal wasn't coming all the way back up. Had to put my foot under and lift it. It then stayed up and behaved.

Once on the runway it was pulling ok but at high rpms in both 4th and 5th the clutch was starting to slip. It finally gave up on my 4th run at around 150 mph, i went from 4th to try for 5th and it would not engage.

Car is now sat in my garage waiting for a Mcleod RST clutch and flywheel to arrive.

On its way home.

on the upside Guy Martin and his dad were there and took an interest in the car and wanted to have look around it.
Really nice chap. His Dad has an S550.

Speed results from the day

Video of the 192.944 mph run. as far as i'm concerned its 193 mph lol

Well done. Love these mustangs.

Do you think the clutch cost you 200mph. Or have you simply run out of runway/power.

Not sure. Not been able to launch the car cost time at the start and the slipping clutch cost mph up top. Will see in a few weeks once I’ve done the clutch. Certainly a few more mph to come.

Good effort and pretty consistent speeds for the runs you did. Did the diff work as expected?

Those bikes are insane - 202mph on one wheel!

Yes the diff worked great. Once the clutch is done I will be having another go.

Pulled the box yesterday.

Safe to say the clutch is done.

Replacement should arrive some time next week.

Right update from yesterdays speed runs.

Day didn't start off too great as it rained right at the start.
First 3 runs were in the wet and on the third run the car shredded the blower belt as i came off the runway.
I was running a 2.7 griptec pulley but it was still slipping. On the last runs i was on a 2.8 griptec and it turns out that was slipping and stopping me revving past 7500 rpm. Same again on these runs.

After the belt let go i swapped back to the stock 3 inch pulley and belt just to see if the car would go past 7500 rpm in 5th.

Well, it did.

Not in 1 mile but roughly 1.2/1.3 miles i managed 201.2 mph and then 202.9 mph at 8000 rpm in 5th gear.

I'm now waiting on an extra idle pulley kit from Seth White on the Facebook Edelbrock page to ship out an other kit. The first is in limbo with USPS now for over 3 weeks and looks to be lost.

I will give it another go to try and set a good mile speed once the extra idle kit is on. I think the car can give 195-197 on the mile.
Then I'm going to swap to a taller tyre and see if i can go over 205 mph.

Weather from the first 3 runs. Was a little bum twitching.

remains of the belt after run number 3

speeds from all 6 runs. Was a bit disappointed due to the belt slip and weather.

The belts do jump off as they stretch at full load and the tensioner snaps back too quickly. I’ve got a damper on mine to stop it doing that. Works really well, it’s also what most OEM supercharged cars have.

No problem, be careful, those belts can take out electrics etc when they go and I've had one leave me stranded before. Simple but effective, I think mine came from a Golf G60, Mini or something:

something like this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/164323512386

Also 8 rib pullies at least.

Saw it for a sale a few weeks back so guessed you'd done what you set out to achieve. Most importantly you had some fun without blowing it up!
