Last up for today are the wheels. While buying all the bits to improve performance i was still struggling to put the power down through the standard tyre sizes. 275's just haven't got enough foot print to put near 700whp tot he ground so a wider wheel/tyre set was needed.

I looked at a lot and decided on SVE R350's from LMR. Down side was they no longer ship to the UK. so i had to bring them over via ship7/stackry sites. While buying i got carried away and ended up with 2 sets.

The plan was to buy 6 wheels. A set of 4 for everday use and 2 spares for the 200mph runs as i need to run a specific tyre size to get over 200. I got carried away and now have 2 sets.

1 set in grey and 1 set in black. the grey set will go up for sale after the speed runs are done.

19x10 and 19x11

road use will be 285/3519 front and 325/30/19 rears.

For the speed runs i will swap the rears for a 19x10 wheels in grey with 285/40/19 to give the correct gearing for 211mph in 5th

Front tyres will be here in a few days and the other 2 black wheels are getting collected tomorrow from the powder coaters near me. the wheel sets i bought are seconds, they have very small marks or tiny chips in paint so i got a good deal on them.

More to come over xmas. Mid pipes to fabricate and waiting on my oil cooler to arrive.

Honestly no lol.

I think mainly because how I use the car. It’s the family car so no hard driving or launching down the road.

Even when I was on the runway I couldn’t get power down due to it being wet. But I didn’t feel any hop. Just wheel spin.

Hopefully during next year I will be able to get a better feel for it and will probably notice more of a difference once it’s dry.

Not much of an update but the car is back on its wheels and driving. Exhaust is done and sounds great. Still quiet (ish) with the valves shut even on the motorway and not intrusive. Open the valves and st the bed it makes some noise especially on wide open throttle. It does sound just fantastic though.

Still just doing some running around and rechecking as i have had so much of the car apart over December i want to be sure every thing is staying tight.

Also managed to update the sync3 to 3.4 with the help of Mustang6G forum member just so i could have the Ford performance splash screen. Its the small things that matter.

Also the Cooper Zeon RS3-S tyres I got from the states are proving to be good so far.

Just gave the car a quick wash after a 60 mile shake down.

Will be taking the car in for 4 wheel alignment in the next week or 2 and fitting the Mishimoto oil cooler if it ever arrives.

Thanks lol

I'm kinda using them as a bench mark now.

When i was there most of the Mclaren's and the other AWD super cars were using launch control as they were getting some traction. I had none. I know this as one of the other owners came up to me asking " what the fk is in that thing" He had watched me set off and commented that i just looked to be setting off to the shops as i just pulled away steady and slowly built up speed.

One thing I didn't know that day was my car still had a hard coded limiter built in. So even if i had traction of the line i would have still stopped at 186mph. Still in the process of getting around this. Last tune file i got to remove it stopped the use of reverse lol. So a bit more to work on with that.

Finally got the Mishimoto oil cooler fitted. Had to do a few mods to accommodate superchager install but went in quite straight forward.

stock oil cooler

where it came from

and mishimoto blank plate

sandwich plate

fitted

The cooler itself

nice dirty under shot

Next up is the meth kit. Will be fitting a AEM kit and the snow performance sandwich plate and anti siphon solenoid. Hoping to get this on this week.

And just a dirty pic of the car

What do you have planned for your top speed run? I think I am in your area and want to do one too.
I will be doing the top speed run with https://straightliners.events/index.php/2020-calen... £150 to have a go and you should get about 6 runs. depends how busy it is.

next event at Elvington airfield is March 17th. Think i'm going to wait until April or May for a better chance of dry weather and slightly warmer temps.

Right, it was Dyno day today to see if the winter work has paid off.

We had a few issues to start with, the dyno packs had been switched around so we had to swap them back. AET have 4 hub dynos, 2 are rated at 500lbft and the other 2 at 1000lbft. We had the 500's on by mistake. Then the battery went flat, then a wheel nut issue that was sorted by a quick trip to ford just up the road.

Finally we were able to do some pulls.

On the last dyno run the car pulled 638whp but the belt was slipping and power was dying off at about 6400rpm. A 2.8inch griptec has sorted the slip issue.

Today the car pulled from 688whp, 694 and 698 and managed a best of 704whp. Torque was from 610lbft up to 627lbft at the hubs. So the cheap ebay headers managed a nice gain of 66whp. The tune hasn't changed from the last time so this was a natural increase from having a free flowing exhaust system.

Elvington will be April i think now for a 200mph attempt. March is just looking to be too cold and wet to attempt.

Thanks for the nice comments. means a lot.

Carlos24:
560bhp will still be a lot of fun on the mile.

Scottos:
Very chuffed, I was expecting around 670-680whp so hitting 704whp was a huge surprise.

AmosMoses:
Cheers

Greg_D:
The Coyotes are a very tunable motor. twin turbo cars on E85 are hitting 1000whp on stock internals. The big issue for the Coyote are the pistons. they like to break ringlands.

You can buy a built coyote from Ford performance with forged rods and pistons and a 9.5:1 compression for about 10k dollars.

Fair play, it’s a great build. The safe power limit for the stock pistons seems to be 600whp if the internet is to be believed

https://www.americanmuscle.com/s550-coyote-power-l...

I know when my LS gave up on the mile sprint, it was without warning when one of the pistons broke up. Left me with a £20k bill, you may be more lucky but if it were mine, I’d be going for a set of pistons next.
Don't believe the internet lol. Most supercharger manufactures like Edelbrock, Roush/ford performance and Whipple will give a warranty on the engine once you fit there kits. The 2650 and 3.0 kits will put down mid 600's to the wheel on the supplied tunes. A friend has just had the 3.0 whipple fitted and dyno'd 645whp as a stage 1 kit. The engine is now covered by the whipple warranty.

The pistons are the big weak point but there are so many boosted coyotes about now running well over 600whp with out issue that it isn't worth the worry. If i wanted to try and push it more id do the pistons but i'm happy for now at this power level. Plus we are just in the process of setting up the meth for added cooling/octane for a bit of extra safty.

There are no chips to piss on. My point was that the current crop of blowers put down well over 600WHP on there own supplied tunes, hence the American muscle page stating the pistons are only good for 600whp isn't all that correct. If the pistons were all going to let go once you are more than 600whp then the superchager companies are not going to offer warranty as it would be business suicide.

I looked at the chillers as someone pointed them out to me. There's a company who do one called the killerchiller for the mustang. But reviews didn't seem all that great and as from reading up the S550 apparently shuts down the AC under full throttle making the kit a bit pointless as it wont work when you really need it.

The Edelbrock on my car deals with heat very well anyway. All through last summer it never gave any cause for concern. The only reason for the water/meth is for the 1 mile runs as it will be WOT for a long time so just a bit of added safety. Each time the car has been on the dyno the heat soak has been quite minimal. On the last dyno the power increased with each pull with the 704whp being the last pull.

Small update.

When i did the top speed runs last year I noticed from seeing pictures afterwards that the bonnet was being lifted quite a lot on the front corners. Gap looked big enough to slide your hand in. I ordered a pair of Quiklatch QL38 hood pins to keep it down and prevent the lift and prevent the bonnet breaking lose. The QL38's are rated at 500lbs holding force each. These are the smaller version of what is factory fitted tot he new GT500.

Fitted them today. only took about an hour or so to do.

holes drilled, no turning back

Perfect alignment

I filled down the edges and used a touch up paint to coat the bare metal.

Dropped in place to see how they look

All done

I then decided it was time to fit the second catch can I have had sat on the bench for 6 months.
Nice and easy and also tidied up the engine bay a little bit. Swapped the odd silver bolt for black ones and removed the tabs off of the charge cooler housing.

Passenger catch can

Drivers side catch can emptied after a dyno session and 260 mile round trip to Telford. Swapped the mount bolt for a tidy allen bolt.

Just a full shot of the engine bay.

Just waiting for good weather now for a top speed run.

No real update as such for the Mustang. Due to Covid19 all events have been cancelled for the time being so no speed runs yet.
Car is currently sorn.

Decided to tidy up a few bits and paint the calipers and fit the wheels & tyres i will be using for the high speed runs.
I went with Michelin Super sports 305/35/19 for the rears to give the right tyre height of 27.4 inch. This should give a rough top speed in 5th of about 207mph at 8k rpm. Front tyres are 275/40/19 Michelin PS4S. Slightly higher profile than i would have liked but needed for the right speed rating and load.

Road wheels and tyres

Top speed tyres/wheels

on the quick jack

Back on the floor

Fingers crossed for a run in late May or June.
