I've really enjoyed reading this, what a great car it's going to be.
That engine looks a beauty.

Coming on nicely.
It looks so small in that last photo.

With regards to the high low octane question
Can it be mapped to use both and
A) Be set up so it makes the most out of 98/99 but is still ok/safe on 95?
B) A switchable map?

God this looks amazing. It's amazing how small the glasshouse is!

Do the windows drop as per the original Stratos? And is there AC?

EDIT: looks like an AC rad in the front there actually - good move!

Yes, ticked the options box for AirCon. I suspect the shape of the windscreen might mean it gets a bit hot in there plus the heat from the big noisy thing behind my head.

Yes, the window mechanism is as per the original Stratos and indeed the windows themselves are interchangeable with an original car.

How have I missed this thread?

Looking at the photos etc took me right back to a Lombard RAC in late 70s. End of the Welsh loop, just exited Clocaenog stage, and late on the road having had a torrid time in Wales, or so we thought. Sandro Munari in the Stratos had clearly had a slightly worse time and the two of us hacked in mini convoy through Wales to service and time control in Mold. Both pushing it beyond sensible to maximise service time and there was a fair bit of creative overtaking of the queues of spectator cars. Finally we both got a pull from North Wales finest bike cop, PC Jones bent down to give a bking, presumably got some rapid Italian in return, threw his hands up and waved both of us onwards. Phew!

Amazing inspiring work, is the bodywork they hardest part? Do you need specilist skills, e.g. panel beating or does it all just bolt on?

The OP isn't building it himself. It's under construction at the manufacturers.

I think they are and we’re all GRP fibreglass so no panel beating (I could be wrong)

If so then pre-preg colour as will I expect so no paint to do.

great thread and build Jim, LB have created a fantastic car
I've been down to LB a few times with my mate Norman who is building one.
I had a Hawk Stratos for about 20 years (hence my name) - quick pic with my Integrale below:

this was Alfa 3.0 12v powered.

I've just posted my build thread of my latest project on readers cars: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Thanks. I've been following your build on SE. Good to see it on here for a wider audience. wink

I expect we'll bump into each other (well, hopefully not!!) up here at some point when the cars are on the road biggrin

What a fantastic car. You mention the windows fitting the original cars. Can I ask, how much of the kit is interchangeable with an original Lancia Straos?

Ummm, that’s a good question. I think cosmetically the answer is lots but I’m probably not the best person to answer in any detail.

I'm surprised that any of it is interchangeable. It's a credit to the builders that they have made a car that is so close to the original. I'm thinking of building a kit car and the only things that are from the original would be the side lights frown .

I've just twigged that I know your friend Norman. I bet your previous occupation comes in handy biggrin

I want to say that even things like the bodywork parts are interchangeable but like I say, I'm no expert.

There's some fantastic workmanship in those pics, well done to all involved! It takes some true craftsmanship to make it all look as neat and purposeful as that.
