No updates as the car is still tucked away over the winter but i have lots of new parts to go on and then book some track days and a few Euro trips for 2020 .

The car is now out of hibernation and a few new parts will be going on in the next few weeks .

With this in mind i have booked up to start the year off at Bedford again on the 11/04/2020 so have a few months to get the car ready and all new parts installed .

It will be good to see how the car performs at the same track compared to last year with the new parts added .

Nice, I have actually just ordered one of these this morning!

When you say "5 months", you mean it was on backorder awaiting stock? I bought mine direct from Ultra Racing shop (item: RO2-1457).

It is a nice ease install and the fit is very good .

I ordered the part with Sico last August but they may have ordered a batch so you might get yours sooner i hope .

Ah cool, good to know. I quite fancy one of their rear ARBs too.

Funny you mention it, I just got an email this afternoon to say it's out of stock and will be 4-6 weeks ha! But I ordered direct from Ultra.

I'll give Sico a call and see if they have stock.

Has it made any notable difference in stiffness?

Hope they made more than one and you don't have to wait too long .

I will be fitting a dna rear adjustable roll bar next week so will post a review on that .

I would not use sico again !

The car is still up in the air but it should add a bit more bracing / stiffness but the car is all ready running lots of bracing so might be hard to tell

If you're selling the Whiteline ARB, let me know smile

And yeah, not heard good stuff about Sico. Apparently they just list stuff with no real idea as to whether they can source it or not. They don't hold much if any stock themselves.

got another job done and one i have been looking forward to .

last month i received my DNA racing rear camber plates .

The rear of the Fiesta ST uses a fixed torsion beam so the camber cant be adjusted like in the front and the camber is fixed at 0.5 deg negative camber that is fine for the road but not great if you want to dial in some more rear camber for a track set up .

This is where the DNA rear camber plates come in as this will add 1.5 deg of negative camber so will give a total of 2 deg negative rear camber .

The kit consists of a couple of carbon steel plates anodized gold that fit between the wheel hub and the rear suspension swing arm .

DNA racing rear camber plates

The install was easy but there is one problem in that you cant run the rear dust shield as this will trigger an ABS fault as the ABS sensor is too far away if you run the dust shield and the camber plate .

Rear dust shield that needs to be removed .

location of ABS sensor with dust shield .

location of ABS sensor with dust shield and camber plate .

Rear dust shield removed .

DNA racing camber plates installed .

Rear hub re installed with rear DNA racing camber plates .

Now running 2 deg negative rear camber .

Another small update .

I have been running the stock spec gearbox oil in the car from new and have changed this a few times with stock gear box oil but as the car is now 95 % driven on track only ( with some road driving to and from track ) and with the car running much more power and torque i have looked to upgrade the gear box oil to one that will still be in spec and fine on the road but one that will handle greater heat / load on track .

The stock gear box oil i have been running is the Castrol Syntrans FE 75W GL4 .
Viscosity @ 40C = 32.2
Viscosity @ 100C = 6.3
Viscosity index = 154

I have changed this to the Motul Gear 300 75W-90 GL4-GL5
Viscosity @ 40C = 72.6
Viscosity @ 100C = 15.2
Viscosity index = 222

This is still in spec and covers the GL4 but will give better protection on track and handle much more heat / load better than the Castrol Syntrans FE 75W

And another update

The car is now running - 2 degrees negative rear camber and with the coilovers at the front about - 1.2 - 1.5 degrees negative camber at the front .

The problem is if you want more at the front then you need to cut away the strut tower to adjust the camber ( stupid design ) and all the makes of coilovers have this same issue it seems .

Another option is to set up the coilovers to as much as you can and then make anymore adjustments using front camber bolts .

Powerflex front camber bolts .

Stock shock bolts .

Powerflex front camber bolts adjusted to a max of - 1.75 negative camber .

I will be looking to get a full Geo set up done after i have installed some more bits but this should give the front - 3 - 3.5 negative camber .

Time for an update on this .

I have been running two sets of wheels and tyres one dry set up using the stock Fiesta OEM wheels and running Nankang AR1 tyres in 215/40/17 and then a wet / road set up of stock Fiesta OEM wheels and running AD08R tyres in 215/40/17 .

The AR1 are amazing in the dry but will not be that good in the wet and i have found that the AD08R are not that great in the wet either .

I have got a new set of Pilot sport 4 tyres that are said to be very very good in the wet that will replace the AD08R tyres and will be my wet / road set up for this year .

Should be good. I did a track day at Anglesey where it absolutely teemed it down and I used my Pilot Sport 3's. Absolutely fantastic, loads of grip!

Yes i have read good things about the PS4 in the wet so should be better than the AD08R and give me some better grip .

Time for another update after another part installed on the car .

I received my DNA racing rear adjustable anti roll bar .

This kit includes tie rod motorsport rod ends, related and bar supports with Nylon inserts with zero backlash bearings .

The DNA RARB bolts on to the rear beam and also on to the rear shock housings so this kit has x 4 fixing points .

The rear beam needs to be drilled for the fixing bolts to mount on to .

Mounting the rear rod ends .

Mounting the rear bearings .

And the kit fully installed on the soft setting to start with .

Is there a significant difference running one of these ARB style torsion bars?

I've been considering one (although a standard 22mm Whiteline or Ultra Racing one), but unsure if there us a considerable increase in cornering flatness?

Yes there is an improvement in the cornering flatness and an improved turn in and sharpness to the front end but this also makes the rear a bit more mobile that may be a good or bad thing depending on what you are after .
