Another job done as i have only done a half bleed and flushed with the RBF660 brake fluid i thought i would change this for some of the new Motul RBF 700 .

At 336c dry boiling point it should do well on track .

Thanks i have not kept to budget but have a set goal as to how i want it and that costs money .

It does go very well on the road but will be much more at home on track when im done .

I admire the dedication to this car, it's like a smorgasbord of all the best aftermarket bits for a Fiesta ST. I've driven a standard one and it was fun enough, can't imagine how this one must go

Neither did i and it only came out this year .

big dry boiling point and good wet boiling point and at £ 23.00 for 500ml its not too bad .

Didn't realise Motul made RBF700! Is it new?

Will have to move from 660 to 700 next time I flush brakes.

No this will not be a problem and was recommended by a well known Ford tuner .

Isn't the low temp stat going to cause issues when you are driving to the circuit? i.e. the ecu will still be in 'warm up' cycle so fueling more than is needed, etc?

Still in the air in the garage and I still have a few more things to do before I give it a good shake down / test.

Have you driven it since fitting the braces? Is there a noticeable difference?

I have all ready installed my Airtec crankcase side oil catch can so this will finish off the job .

Nice easy job that fits nice in the engine bay and should help out with keeping the valves and induction track clean .

Im hoping i will not need to use this but i still have the OEM towing eye so can change this over if needed but after speaking to people running this on Fiesta and Focus cars they have not had any problems even being pulled from the gravel trap at Brands hatch .

You may be right and i will keep the stock one on hand if needed but let hope i dont have to find out smile

IS there any problems with the other systems on track like calling the emergency services it you clip the curb etc ?

alex98uk said:
My feeling is that it's a "fashion" tow strap. I.e. The kind used at Halfords car park meets.

That said, keep the original towing eye in the car and if you ever have to use it, let us know how you get on. Fingers crossed you won't need it anyway smile

I've only had one major spin in my ST this year and luckily it was with loads of run off. Only thing triggered was the ECU fuel cut off, so took me some seconds to reset it and cycle the system.

Just booked to go to Bedford GT on the 27/08/19 for its first track day ever .

I was there in my old track car back in May ( 2ZZ powered MR2 roadster ) so it will be good to see how they compare and the track has a lot of run off if i get it a bit wrong .

Another weekend and some more new parts fitted .

After re installing the front bumper and grill i can see the lower grill is blocking off half the oil cooler and a chunk of the intercooler .

The front grill has a blanking plate on the lower half and this is restricting air flow to the larger inter cooler and new oil cooler .

Stock front grill with the blanking plate .

Removed and ready to be reworked to remove the blanking plate with a flap sander .

All done with the blanking plate removed

And all installed

Nice easy job that will improve air flow and still keep the stock OEM grill

Another quick job done last night .

As i will be keeping the stock seats and seat belts i have got some CG locks to help keep me in place .

The stock Fiesta Recaro seats are nice and tight anyway but this will give a little more tightness and i have used them before and like them a lot for such an easy simple add on .

Promo vid of what they are / do .

Been getting a few more bits done in the evening .

As the Fiesta ST does not have live data on the tyre pressures i have got a TPMS to go on so i can keep an eye on the pressures when on track and can adjust to suit .

TPMS

And installed

Another small update .

The stock ford wheel nuts are known for rounding and the locking wheel nut is also prone to becoming stuck so for this reason i have got some new wheel nuts and have removed the locking wheel nut and replaced this with a stock nut .

Yes that is so true my ones were rounding off and the car is only 3 years old .

They are from the below link and seem ok as i have had them on and off 100 times with setting up my coilovers .

Where did you get these? Ford nuts are the bane of my life. Got a link?

You only need to so much as look at them and they round/lip and get stuck.

No problem and they are the correct 12x1.5 60 deg tapered units .

If the brake fluid has been changed then there should be no air in the system so might be glazing the pads/discs with the heat on track .

gashead1105 said:
The link says they are designed for aftermarket wheels, not OE. Any issues with fitting them to your OE wheels?

On a different point, after Bedford I've been left with quite a long brake pedal. Mountune have changed the fluid for me already, at the same time as putting the 215 map on it (which I really like!) and that doesn't seem to entirely solved it. Any suggestions appreciated as to what to investigate next? I have boiled the discs, wonder if I need to change them, but I still have still a few months warranty left if it could be something more.

Im not sure turning the ESC off turns off the torque vectoring but i could be wrong .

All you need is a 20mm spacer to run a BBK under the stock wheels but again they are not cheep but the one thing i would look at as the Fiesta ST stock brake set up does suffer with heat .

gashead1105 said:
Thanks. Will probably pick up a set as had to replace a couple of wheel nuts when I put the DS2500 in!

Guess I need to put a new set of discs on - and I guess pads as well. Annoying as I've never had an issue on previous cars with just slotting DS2500s in, but I was surprised by the amount of heat that seemed to be retained in the wheel well after each run - it was a hot day as well to be fair. I turned off the ESC so torque vectoring should have been deactivated as far as I'm aware.

Makes a big brake kit a bit more tempting, but I think it would be over kill for what I am using the car for and I guess I'd then need to splash out on after market wheels as well. Not sure I'd get all that past the wife really, I also have an Evora and she'd start questioning whether I really needed to keep it!
