So I'm booked in on friday for an X-Pipe smile

Resonator delete + X-Pipe 250
^^ + Secondary cat removal 350

WWYD ? I'm hesitant to get rid of the secondary cats due to potential Mot issues..
I did that to my C43 many years ago. It’s also an M113 but a bit smaller than in your SLK.
It didn’t improve the noise, just made it more droney. Hopefully it works out better on yours.

If I were to modify the exhaust in an M113 again, I’d get a proper system from a reputable tuner like Carlsson or Kleemann.

Gorgeous SLK by the way smile

I've got an SL55 and was thinking of using these guys for an xpipe.

I just wanted a bit more bass to the note but less drone. Im in two minds now whether to do this though its not huge money and reversible.

I decatted a TVR before and hated the results but a mercedes is a different prospect.

It'll cost more, but how about leaving the resonators but fit sports cats? It'll be easy enough to remove the resonators later.

Think I'm leaning to removing the secondary cats after watching loads of videos of the difference.

Can't wait !

I want to get it remapped too but I'm not sure on DMS or MSL in Birmingham (who also Dyno it)...More investigation needed...

I think after that lot (I have K&N Filters on it already - thank you previous owner !) I should get to about 385-390 ish ?

From my previous research I personally think Acid at MSL is the man when it comes to remaps, lots and lots positive feedback from AMG owners that have been through MSL’s workshops.

Can’t wait to hear it!

Removing the secondary cats has no effect on your M.O.T as long as the first ones are there.

Well, would be rude not to ! biggrin

I think after the remap I'll almost be done. After reading the SWRP article on the W124, they're only a few miles away so I will get it booked in for treatment, especially as the subframe on these is a bit of a known issue, then just concentrate on enjoying it..

I have my 20th anniversary in Sept so am thinking of a road trip with the missus somewhere in it... whistle "Oh look there's the signs for the Nurburgring...would be rude not too while we're here" hehe

I think if most AMG's came out the factory like that, they would have sold more of them. It'll sound better once you've racked up a few more miles on it. Now watch your mpg drop.

exactly this.

The secondary cats are tiny compared to the primaries which are located up by the headers. I had infinity remove the secondaries / resonator delete and fit an x pipe and my slk55 sailed through the MOT.

The problems started when I fitted kleemann headers as this necessitated removing the primary cats- essentially i was running straight through pipes which was unbearably loud. I had to take it back to Infinity to add a small custom silencer and sports cats which ( just ) get it through the MOT ( as long as they are red hot)

Not sure how much a remap will get you - I had a Kleemann remap / cams / headers and am running 440bhp

No Goodwood for me. frown

On my way to a meeting with my Big Boss in Emborough, a woman pulled out of a juntion on the right and T-Boned me at Chilcompton...Here

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/Radstock+Co-op...

I was travelling towards the Co-op and she pulled out of Bakers lane, I tried to swerve and hit the horn but to no avail, she just kept coming...
Thankfully a couple witnessed it and I have their details, they've agreed to be witnesses thankfully !!

Gutted....Admiral, to be fair have been superb and all the mods have already been declared, including the X-pipe (which incidently cost me the princly sum of £12.58 - joys of being an old git !)

Their claims handlers don't have a merc specialist repairer, but if I pay the excess I can pick my own garage. Excess is £350 so..decisions...I think I'd rather get a Merc repairer than just a generic. They were most surprised when I said I didn't need a hire car (As I have the Jazz to use).

Hopefully it's not too painful a repair, but I don't like the look of the wheel frown

Oh crap. What a complete PITA - totally gutted for you.

On the positive side, you’re ok, she’s ok, and you get a new rear subframe...

Hope you get it sorted soon.

Mine is off the road with a knackered crankshaft position sensor, but that’s an easier fix when I get a dry day

Look into this as I'm pretty sure you can pick your own repairer regardless.

Sorry to hear this. If Admiral try and direct you towards a company called Fix Auto, run fast and don't look back.

It's with IRG in Bristol now. MB Bristol use them (as do MB Bath sometimes) so that gives me a bit of comfort...Must admit I didn;t sleep that great overnight, kept replaying the accident and wondering if I could have done anything different. It's the 1st accident I've been involved in since 1996 !
