Glad you like it & they're good cars but when things like the Giulia QF & C63 are in the mix it comes in third place for me.
Totally depends on budget. An F80 M3 is around £25k. The QF and C63 BiTurbo (which I don't like, it looks like it's melted) aren't. I'm not saying that the M4 is the best car, it's not, but it's better than I thought it would be.Will an F80 M3 replace the E60 M5? Jury is still out. I need a go in an F10 M5.

Completely agree about the budget side of things, the F10 is a beast for torque BUT & I know you're not a Mercedes guy, I will say test drive a 5.5TT E63 even if it's just to experience it, because when it comes to torque they have it in spades. Will an F80 M3 replace the E60 M5? Assume they’re non-AUC’s for £25k?Will an F80 M3 replace the E60 M5? Jury is still out. I need a go in an F10 M5.
I had a look last night and there were two AUC’s sub £30k but both were 2014 cars and seemed strong money for the age. A few more M4’s with a couple being 16 plate cars.
My understanding was that from 2016, both the M3/4 received some updates that help to tame the slightly spiked nature of the earliest cars.
M2 options were limited with they best one being a white car from a dealer in Leicester who recently sold a mapped M2 to a guy on BabyBMW (they took it back when it was flagged and put him into another one). Bit shady on their behalf.

Reading this with interest, looking forward to hearing what you think of the f10 m5.
Are you on an extended test drive with the m4?
It'll be a few weeks away yet as I am busy this and next weekend sadly. Are you on an extended test drive with the m4?
The M4 is a hire car.

Yes that is right, non AUC. I'd end up modifying one so an AUC car is pointless for me. The only M2 I would want would be the Comp due to the nicer interior.
[
I want the OG M2 partly because I can’t afford a Comp and partly because the N55 sounds nicer than the S55. Downside is that the interior is identical to my M140i other than the seats being embossed. I guess the saving would more than cover the cost of some M4 seats.[
Totally get that. I just wouldn't want the hassle of having to find an interior and swapping it out etc.
Having had the M4 for nearly a week and getting to spend some time with it, some good time, I have come to a few conclusions.
1. It sounds awful at anything other than cruising speeds. There is no joy in going beyond 4k revs, so I don't.
2. It has zero steering feel. When I mean zero I actually mean zero.
3. It's quick, the mid range torque is great, but again no need to go beyond 4k as there is no point.
4. I enjoy driving it at normal speeds, so that is all I do.
5. It is a good daily.
6. It isn't a good weekend car (for me).
7. I like DCT more than SMG.
8. I like the tech. The idrive in the E60 is like a casio watch compared to this.
9. I like its directness, despite its lack of steering feel.
10. The interior feels cheap compared to the E60. I put this down to my E60 having full leather and this not.
11. I like the seats more than the E60's.
So, would I buy an M4? Unlikely, but I would buy an M3.
So what's next? I want to have a go in an F10 M5, see what I think, as logically I think this is the next step for me. Ultimately I can say with 99% certainty that the E60 M5 is going to be sold soon.

Do you every think that perhaps you are jumping between big fast barges looking for something and not really finding it ? Is another more powerful M5, after the initial novelty going to hit the spot ?
I find myself looking at M5's, M4's and various fast Mercedes but for what I do, its the wrong car really.
Maybe get a cheaper fast ish barge for family duties and something more fun for weekends ?
I know its not an M car but since I took over my sons old Fiesta ST I haven't even started my M135i other than to take it for its brake fluid change, then stuck it back on the path and M4 plans are on hold.
Not suggesting you get a boy racer Fiesta but is it an uber barge you actually want again ?
I didnt do the full uber barge thing as mine was sub 400 bhp, but having had the CLS and then thinking I would get a CLS/E 55 or a later model CLS63 I just realised I couldn't see the point of going any faster in a two tonne big automatic monster, lovely but I would just lose my license I think.
Problem for me now is keeping my budget intact and away from purchases such as patio furniture and the like.

It’s a big step up from the M3/4 inside. Big old beasts though.
It's actually a little bit shorter than the F10 M5 Angry is thinking about replacing his E60 M5 with.It nay have been an illusion but the M6 felt massively wider than than F10’s I’ve been in which aren’t exactly small.

I was more thinking the width of it. I remember sitting in one and it felt absolutely vast, the passenger seat felt miles away. I know the F10 isn’t exactly small, I think it was the PH review that mentioned the size of it on Welsh roads.

It's an illusion with the width difference between the M5 & M6 GC is 2.5cm it's the lower layout that maybe makes feel bigger. It nay have been an illusion but the M6 felt massively wider than than F10’s I’ve been in which aren’t exactly small.
I collected my car last Friday after its had the bumper and wheel sorted.
Wheel finish isn't as good as I would like, but they did paint the full bumper for free on top of just fixing the damage, so I'm not complaining too much.
It looks like the car will be remaining in my possession until spring next year. I cannot make the figures work on what I would get for it and what I would replace it with. If it were to be an f10 M5 then it would need to be an lci car (2013 on) and they're starting at around £23k at the moment, plus £2k extra would be needed to do the obligatory injectors and rod bearings. Next spring things should hopefully look a bit more rosey in terms of being able to make finances work.
