One of the best threads in the history of PistonHeads. Thanks Op beer

Epic, glorious cars. The textbook definition of supersaloon. Op, you have truly lived during this custodianship and have served your duty providing the public with much-needed extraordinary V10 noises. We salute you with a gracious hat-tip.

At the end of the day these E60 M5s/E63 M6 V10s are supermodels of the car world. To obtain the rewards of them, you have to 'treat' them to get the worthwhile returns hehe

I once dated a high-up Politician's (attractive) daughter. She was a gold-digging selfish b1tch and cost me a small fortune over a year's ownership. But I look back at the fun bedroom times and I don't regret it one bit. It was an experience. I referred to her simply as 'M5' around my mates. They knew what I meant, she would give me a vacant stare.

I'd rather have one of these over my F80 M3. I'd dearly love an LCI facelift E60 M5 in Interlagos Blue with a DCT 'box conversion. That would be my ultimate saloon which I would cherish cloud9

I thought I saw it for sale the other day, the stories in the ad sort of tied up with yours, good luck with the sale.

I don't know where you are but I know a quality interior man, he's based in Lincolnshire

Thanks, though I aren't so sure about best threads, but I'll take it hehe

I have lived and died lol. It nearly bankrupted me! Thankfully I am on the other side, but I could do with moving it on, but only for the right money. I suppose I should throw up an advert, see if anyone bites.

It's definitely been treated! When it has needed something it has been bought.

I'd be very happy to take your F80 in P/X rofl Joking aside though, the SMG isn't actually that bad, and makes sense when on the "move".

Nah not yet. I keep umming and aaahing. I am in Bucks, but don't mind a bit of travel I guess if the price is right.

So do I, if it sells. I am in no rush, so if it doesn't sell for what I want then I will just have to keep it.

I am fairly OK, migraines and recent ear issues excepted (had another op on Wednesday), thanks for asking. How are you doing? Still all OK after your troubles?

Ah sorry to hear you're still having issues. All pretty good my end, just did another charity thing back in March for the hospital department I was under smile

Good luck with the sale mate.

Just booked the car in with BMW for the recall to do with the long cable that runs front to back. They are loaning me a courtesy car, I wonder what it will be? (I am getting either a 2 series or a 320d)...

Still running fine. Still not advertised yet, waiting until the recall has been done.

What will you be looking at price-wise for it? Shame it's going. Hope the sale goes smoothly and it's not hanging around for too long.

Good question. I reckon it'll hand around for ages given the nature of how much I want for it. I'll be asking £19k for it. I know what a lot of people are going to say, but given the work done to it, I think it's fair.

I am putting the car up for sale today, tentatively. I expect it to take a while to sell, hence why putting it up now.
Thats a shame, but can totally understand why, I think if anyone out there is after a V10 M5, yours is totally the one to buy, so many will be on the edge of all whats happened to yours happening, patched off to pass off onto some unsuspecting punter or just on its way very soon, not many will be recently and comprehensively sorted. Its as safe as E60 M5 purchases get and worth paying a bit more for based on all the heartache and hassle you went through.

Best of luck and I look forward to your next purchase, just keep away from the Auto trader section called "Potential Money Pits and Lost Causes", No aging Maseratis or V12 Mercs wink
Nothing wrong with a nice aging Maserati..

I think I have decided on the next car. It's likely to be an E63 AMG with the two turbos. It was going to be an F10 M5, but decided against.

I have extensive experience of the F13 M6 which I assume will be very similar to the M5.

Capable, comfortable, but not exciting.

I hear that a lot about the F10 as well tbh. They sound like a wet fart. At least the AMG has some decent V8 sounds going for it. It's a bit up in the air, but I am definitely no longer spending money on the car apart from maintenance.

Utterpiffle has lowered his AMG 63 estate and deleted some boxes - it drives lovely and makes an epic noise - if’s on air you can get adjustable links - not sure if that applies to newer models

The car is now at BMW having its recall work done.

They gave me a 19 reg 118i as a courtesy car. Now if I was an entitled so and so I'd kick up a stink, but I'm not. I am grateful that they have given me a car and actually it's quite nice. It's a sport with leather interior, 8 speed auto.
