Great pics too. I'm pleased you enjoyed it. thumbup

It was nice to be out with no aim other than finding bacon! hehe

It’s the one thing that I’ve always admired about motorbikes; people will just go out for the sake of it.

I don’t think I’m going to to do the NC500 this year but instead head to Wakes. I fancy the Elan Valley and the areas around Gwynedd look pretty.

I had originally planned to be fitting the BMW side foils this weekend after getting excited and sourcing some for sensible money but in my eagerness, I bought F21 foils....balls. As much as I like them, especially on a white car I can’t quite stomach £126 for a pair, so I’ve knocked that idea on the head for now. mad

I did however fit the BMW skirt extensions. I picked these up used on eBay from a BMW body shop. I think it took longer to clean odd the old 3M tape than it did to fit them!

Taking a drill to my side skirts to fit the push rites was a bit daunting but easy enough with a 90 degree drill adapter. They’re very subtle, but I like them. I did think about colour coding them first or painting them gloss black but my sills are pretty battered already so thought they’d end up look pants.

Not longer after the sky went jet black and it looked like it was going to throw it down, so I moved a few things about and got the car in the garage....it was a wee bit snug!

After all that, it never did rain. Car is out of the garage and the tape removed. Just need to re-wax the sills. It’s very subtle but I like them.

Went for another drive just fir the sake of it this morning, left at 7am and had a lovely drive of 100 miles or so. I repeated a few good roads a couple of times because I could. Saw a few others out doing the same thing, a black M4 and an Evora were absolutely flying and there was a nice new V8 Vantage out too. Burnt though half a tank of Super this morning, but it was well worth it.

However, last time I cleaned the car I found the start of corrosion on the inside of my tailgate (seems a few other owners on BabyBMW have experienced the same). BMW are taking the car in on Tuesday to repair and paint the area. It’s only small, but shouldn’t be happening on a 15 month old car.

Picked my car up from the garage today.

The repair on the corrosion appears to have been done well; no noticeable overspray etc. Apparently it was under the rear screen too which was removed anyway to give them the access they needed.

The door sills have had a different tape applied which is wider than the previous tape. I currently have quiet seals....hopefully it’ll last this time because it does my head in.

After four days in a MINI, I appreciate my car a bit more...the BMW sears are just so comfy and adjustable. The MINI was fine, it felt a bit peppier than my other half’s old one but the steering wheel is awful (stereo buttons the wrong way round and too close to the rim), the worst arm rest ever and the fuel gauge makes my teeth itch....what were they thinking?

Been following the thread, thanks for the updates.

It seems like you have been actually using & really enjoying yours. The mods are great too.
I had mine remapped in April, at A Reeve performance in kings Lynn, to 411bhp/576nm and it's is a superb linear power curve, identical (or even better) than the original.
Loving mine.

Cheers. It’s been good to be fair, I’m just trying to enjoy / appreciate it rather than be chasing the next thing which I’m a sod for.

Sounds like a decent step up in power. Have you done much else to yours?

I presume that you prefer the new all in one digital screen(for the speedo/rev counter/fuel gauge etc) in the MINI now then! biggrin

The arm rest is a total joke I agree. smile

Pleased that you got the corrosion sorted. thumbup

You even got me looking around my MINI with the boot up to see if I had any issues as well! hehe

Yeah the skin one scree is soooo much better. I can’t believe they cheaped out and didn’t make it symmetrical. It bothered me when we had one but now.....

Have you checked the paint on your door sills? The seals they fit are like sandpaper and rub through the paint..... ours was sorted but it had started again when it went.

Heading to the Elan Valley in the first week of October for a camping / driving trip.

It’s a bit of an issue. Some get away with it, others don’t. The revised seals were supposed to be better but they still did it. BMW didn’t quibble about sorting it.

You're absolutely spot on and I've just checked mine. thumbup

The seal is like sandpaper at the top as you mention and it has left a mark on the passenger door. Plus it has actually rubbed a little bit of paint off on the drivers side too.

My attention to detail is nowhere near as good as yours for sure, because I've never noticed it before. I will keep an eye on it now cheers. smile

The brace is something I am going to have fitted, for £140 ish, it's a great value-for-money upgrade, and improvement.
Love what you're doing with the car, although personally it's a little too low for me but hey it doesn't matter what I (or anyone else) thinks matey :-)
Mine is stock apart from a remap, but I think once I have saved up enough to buy a wavetrac diff, and sports cat & upgraded fuel pump, I will have to start saving again to upgrade the suspension and brakes .... where does it end lol !

Too much time cleaning the bloody things is probably the reason why! hehe

They’re a cheap upgrade from Williams Performance. Easy to fit too (although I had pay to get it down because I had a broken wrist).

I wouldn’t want to go any lower than 15mm that’s for sure. It does look low when parked next to friends stock car.

Enjoy your updates. Had mine coded today... subtle, but nice. Little things that make a nice difference. Might photo them and post on my thread on babybm.

What did you have done?

I’ve done a few bits through Carly; M Performance logo on the idrive, puddle lights on in reverse, stereo turning off when the drivers door opens and can’t remember the others. Hopefully I won’t have any issues after reading that thread on BabyBMW about the guy having his car blacklisted by BMW for coding.

New I drive screen M logo, puddle lights on reverse, DVD in motion ( for the kids, but may need to be aloof about using it ), auto stop start memory, digital speedo and increased the speed at which my folding mirrors will operate at. Don't really want anything else. Remote roof would be interesting but I don't think you can code that.

How much did it cost to have it fitted - might be tempted to have it done in my F30 335d
£150 inc the Wi-fi arial which is better value than £179 every year for thee cars data connection. So far I’ve been really pleased with it and should have spec’d it from day one.
Interesting you got contact details for that ?

I'm tempted for that !
Integrated Vehicle Solutions, I sent you an email with his phone number. He was recommended by Sytner who use him a bit for stuff they can’t sort.
Just read through this, really like your 140 and the subtle mods you’ve done! Interested in having CarPlay done on my 66 reg 140 with I drive 5 and didn’t realise it was this cheap.. would it be possible to get the contact details of the company please? Having trouble finding them..

Interesting to read your review on the rear brace too, another mod I’m considering. I’m currently on motech springs with spacers, to be honest the ride is awful so a set of b12s and eibach are on the cards, along with rear brace and some powerflex subframe bushes..

Thank you.

I’ll ping you a PM with the guys email address and phone number. It’s certainly better than paying BMW a load of money each year for a data connection.

The ride in my car is better but by no means perfect. I’m thinking about some B12’s next year if I decide to stick with it and not make the jump to an M car sooner than planned.

Thanks for that, I’ll get in touch with them.

Re the b12s, they were on autodoc yesterday for £525.60, I’m tempted at that price..

I also want to get into an M car, I’d like an f80 m3 dct. I’m going to hold on for 18 months or so I think though with the new m3/4 coming soon hopefully prices will drop a bit on the older generation f series cars, prices of m140i seem to be staying strong too currently, in fact I’d say they’ve gotten a bit more expensive. A friend of mine is looking to get into an m140i and to find and equivalent of my Car when I bought it we are finding cars about 1k more than I paid approved used.. so I’m just watching the market for now and enjoying mine for what it is.
