Great thread!
To sort the images, just use the image tag around them, that should work.
Use [IMG] at the start and then [/IMG] at the end of each link to display the pictures.
It will make them all look like this:
Which is what we like
Thank you, that's awesome, all sorted now To sort the images, just use the image tag around them, that should work.

Watching with interest. I have a BRG Mk1 with a supercharger. Dyno'd at 178 bhp at the wheels. Sorry for the blurry phone pic.
Cheers,
Drew.
Apart from the interior that looks very similar Drew, same lip I think! Cheers,
Drew.
The thread from MX-T makes me think 200 bhp at the fly might be possible, but I do think the stock exhaust will be restrictive, so I'm not holding my breath.

Great write up. Thanks.
I enjoyed my only drive in an mx-5, a slightly knackered one at that but I got the gist!
Thank you, appreciate the kind comment. I do have a soft spot for MX5's, it has to be said. They're just such a good car, cheap to buy, run and maintain, easy and cheap to tune, small enough to fit in a rented garage and work on, what's not to love?!? I enjoyed my only drive in an mx-5, a slightly knackered one at that but I got the gist!
I should mention that I have another mk1 mx5 that is a dedicated track hack, affectionately known as the silver stter. Not a pretty car and very cheaply maintained (tyres were about £6 each as ex-race tyres from a VW Cup race team for example) but it laps up the miles with ease - about 4 or 5 thousand track miles done so far with no major issues. It's also doing me well in the Japanese Sprint Series at the moment with two class wins from two events! All in cost of that car is about £600, so incredibly bang for buck

Hot damn, got myself a turbski!
Cleetus McFarland fan?? Love the turbo MX-5, I had an impromptu traffic light GP against one of those when I had my (modded to 310bhp) Leon Cupra a few years back. We were side-by-side the entire time, only lifted as I was turning right at an approaching junction. We both gave each other the thumbs-up and flash of the lights/indicators etc, certainly wasn't expecting it to be as quick as it was!

Leon Cupra is a great car, had one a while back and absolutely loved it. Hard to drive slowly though...
I'm excited to see what tomorrow brings with the mapping, the car certainly feels a lot perkier but no idea until its running right. Proper kid on Christmas eve stuff tonight!!

Interested to see how you get on tomorrow, nothing beats that buzz of getting the car mapped properly then the drive home afterwards, giggling like a little kid
Do it for Dale, and we'll freakin' see you later...
It's a very exciting day. RR printout on buying the car showed 136bhp. First run (so basically after my work on it) was 162.9bhp, and although we hit a peak of 198.2bhp, the final run has it at a smooth 189bhp, which is absolutely fantastic! I'm over the moon. A 54bhp gain!!! Happy days, can't wait to drive it home!
Brilliant day today - I highly recommend Neil at BBR, he was fantastic. Helpful, knowledgeable, did a great job mapping the car and talked me through the whole process so I understood (as best I could!) what was going on.
We ended at 189bhp wheels/203bhp flywheel and 180lbft wheels/189lbft flywheel, which is better than I was hoping for, by a long way! It seems that the actuator is too soft as the boost controller is maxed out but we're only getting about 6-7psi, with an odd boost spike to 10psi - Neil explained this all (twice) but I must admit it was a little beyond me and I can't explain it back now!! However, what I am clear on is that if I replace the actuator Neil is confident we'll see 230bhp from the car, which is frankly ridiculous.
Drive home was sublime, the torque is so smooth and 'on tap' that it pulls so cleanly, with a great wedge of power coming in at 4k rpm. And the turbo noises!! Oh my!! I'm addicted.
Here's the all important rolling road read out showing the corrected numbers at the flywheel:
Only minor niggle now is that I'm getting clutch slip - to be expected really, since the comprehensive folder of history and receipts I have shows no clutch ever previously fitted and it has now done 79k miles! 180lbft torque is just too much at this stage I have asked Neil for a quote on a suitable replacement. But looking online, a clutch that is rated to take the torque is about £350, so I'm not overly worried (any recommendations on what clutch to go for very much appreciated).
Final piece of the puzzle - redid the 0-60 test. Given the damp road and slipping clutch, I'm pleasantly surprised by the improvement...
