TSI's are always a good shout in black or body colour, how will you run side lights? or are they in your headlights. Bookmarked as interested to see how you get on.
Thanks, appreciate the comment! I'm using these:

They are a sidelight and indicator combined in one unit. Should be here next week so will update when they arrive thumbup

MOT passed yesterday, zero advisories! Very happy. Put some more revs through the clutch on the way home and it seems to be holding up well biggrin

A good weekend - spent Saturday at Gurston Down hillclimb double-driving with my dad in his new-to-him mk2.5 mx5. All went well, usual mx5 reliability and a new PB for dad, so a good day all round.

What was interesting to note was that the two cars that came 1st, 2nd and 3rd (1st and 3rd were a double-drive team in the same car) were supposedly running the exact same engine (regs stipulate no engine mods allowed) but with an air intake kit and an upgraded exhaust system. They were the RS spec vs Dads SVT Sport. They carried an additional 6mph (69 for us vs 75 for them) through both hollow and finish line, which over a 40sec run, is a significant benefit. Is that what a header and air box should gain? They had 4.7 ratio diffs vs dads 4.3, I can see that helping acceleration but not sure it would be that significant.

Dad is not going to be competitive with these guys, but I know him and know that he will now be thinking of every little way to make the car quicker, so just want to know if an air box and exhaust is all it takes before he gets carried away!

In other news, new tyres for Project BRG have arrived, they certainly feel soft on the old thumbnail test, so keen to get them fitted and see what we can do! £43 a corner, flippin bargain!

With no spare time recently it's been hard to put miles on BRG, but a sunny evening tonight was too hard to resist! Having washed the car previously...

...it felt rude not to show it off!

A lovely drive, another 30 miles on the clock and so, with over 150 miles on the new clutch, I thought it was about time to retry that 0-60 test. On the same bit of private road, similar weather conditions, but with a full tank of fuel and a torsen diff in the boot (yeah, forgot it was in there!!), I gave it some stick.

Boom! Well happy with that! Over 2 seconds improvement (pre-work the average was 7.9secs with a best of 7.5secs) is incredible, and really does reflect how quick the car feels now. Can't wait to get the new tyres on!!

Only issue now is that as the tyres strain for traction, the backlash through the prop and gearbox is causing the engine to shake massively, and it almost ripped the gear stick out of my hand! New engine mounts required methinks.

TSI's are now installed, and I'm really pleased with how they've turned out. The units I linked to above work really well, offering sidelight and indicator in one unit. Turns out I do have sidelights in the headlight so technically didn't need them, but it was a really easy modification and I'm happy with the end result.

In an effort to increase my enjoyment of the car while I pile on some more miles, I decided to upgrade the speakers. It was quite a pleasant surprise to find the speakers were original! I'm fairly confident the new speakers will add a bit of extra sound density...
