Cheers. Where do you get PFC pads for a clio from? My googling skills are failing me.

If these are the ones (and I've contacted the seller) then they looks like a good deal...

Its cheap now as PFC are clearing out stock and have discontinued this padshape.
Not sure if you can even get them now as PFC have a habit of leaving part numbers on their pricing sheets yet cannot supply.

Mintex M1144's might survive with some respectful heat management when driving on track but realistically will get hot and wear fast.
I'd go minimum M1155 for a track car if sticking to the brand.
Theres PBS pro-race pads which are fairly cheap though i'd spend a decent amount and get an endurance pad compound.

Actually, no, given the cost price is fairly close to what i paid for the car!

Getting the 'box rebuilt will probably be in the region of £600, not financially worthwhile.

Depends what you want from the car, no better time to do it though.
Realistically its a £2k job to install a diff. One of the best upgrades for a FWD car though.
I've been driving a lot more freely now the box has been rebuilt and i can confirm the need for a LSD. My recent car history is a impreza WRX wagon, Legacy turbo GTB and my current daily, VW passat CC 3.6 V6, with 4motion. All 4WD and much heavier than the clio so it's been a novel experience to spin a wheel again...

I'm trying to put off fitting a diff for my 182 but I know it will happen sooner rather than later.

Fitting a diff to my 182 is probably the best thing and most significant change I made. Expensive but well worth it.

The PFC 05 compound pads are out of stock, but the 097 variant is around so, based on the fact that Frayz is usually right about this stuff, I've ordered a set of these.

Annoyingly, for some unknown reason, my usual parcel drop off point has refused delivery of the PFC pads, so I'll have to use what i've got and pick up a spare set from ECP to take with me to snetterton.
Therefore my track prep has been limited to an oil change.
RDP are selling a filter, sump seal and 5l of oil for £38.

The oil looked like it needed a change.

The old filter put up a fight, but once the fuel rail protector was off and access was easier it came off in the end.

I had an awesome time at snetterton. Absolutely amazing. Nerve-wracking, exciting, and just brilliant. The little clio held up really well to the 6 x 20 minute sessions.

There was a good collection of clios in attendance. I even managed to get in a garage with a really nice 182.

I was worried about the brakes. My delivery of the PFC pads was refused by my local drop off point so i went with what was on the car and took a set of OEM pagids as a back up.
I've no idea what brand they are, but they held up really well. A huge amount of dust though.
This was how much pad was left at the end of the day...

Next up. MOT time. As long as i can find a garage that is still open.

Quick update.
First the clio passed it's MOT, on the second attempt (failed due to side repeaters not working).
The MOT station was very quiet, so they gave the car a good going over when it was on the shaker, trying to find the cause of the clunk. They suggested the wishbones are on the way out. Alex at AW said the same so i definitely think that'll be the next big job.
Not sure if that's a job i can tackle on my own, so i might have to wait for the isolation to be over.
Anyway to celebrate the MOT, i gave the car a good wash 'n' wax and fitted a fabia splitter.

I'd give myself a 6/10 for positioning.

The wax i used was from detail freaks, and to be honest i was disappointed. It just fell apart and mashed as i was applying it. Works well on black plastics and smells good, but i won't be buying again.
This was a new pot after 3/4 of a clio.

The clunking on my cup finally stopped when I replaced the wishbones after replacing almost all other bushes.

Pretty cheap to replace so no biggie.

Given the fact I'm not going anywhere and it'll be a while before i can get a mechanic out, I'm sorely tempted to do them myself. Looks easy on autodoc...

Speaker upgrade.
The clio has really become my "go to" car for any trip that doesn't involve motorways, carrying more than one adult passenger or any large objects. It's good in fuel, easy to park, and so small it suits the cramped streets of Cambridge.
Plus, it always makes me smile as it's such fun to drive.
So, as i was spending a lot of time in it i thought I'd upgrade the speakers.
I found two sets of 13cm alpine sxe 1325s on ebay.
New vs old comparison.

I also bought two sets of cable adaptors, which saved a lot of messing about with crimps.

And they're in!

Easy. And now (once the isolation is over) i can listen to moneybox live in perfect clarity when sitting in traffic.

New wishbones!
I did have a look at doing this myself, but the ball joint was not moving. So Jody came back and i watched from the window to maintain a good and safe distance.

This was the bush that was the probable cause of the noise.

Now for an alignment check before the car goes back to sitting on the drive...

I changed almost all bushes. I also had a similar clunk that only occurred when pulling away. Very annoying. Turned out to be a worn powerflex wishbone bush.

I should have listened to you all months ago! With the new wishbones the clunk has gone, and even on a short drive to the shops it feels fantastic. I should have done this on day 1.
I think the only bushes I've got left to replace are the rear beam bushes and inner ARB bushes...

As a few people have mentioned the standard clio wheel isn't great. Its very big, slightly oddly positioned and the rim is quite thin.
I've been doing some research into a way of swapping it out. I wanted to keep an airbag for safety/MOT/insurance, but wanted something a bit nicer.
Thanks to the helpful bunch on cliosport.net, a 197 steering wheel looked like the answer.

https://www.cliosport.net/threads/another-steering...

It's really not a hard job, as shown in the video in the thread.
Old wheel (in position so i can undo the clips holding the airbag):

By the look of the torx head, I'm not the first person to undo this.

Then new wheel on.

As i don't have cruise control the wires are a straight fit, no messing about with connnectors needed. As per the video, you do have to modify the mount lug on one airbag connector, but it's an easy job with a sharp knife.
Helpfully Renault have added a keyway in the splines, so even if your children interrupt and you forget which way the wheel is supposed to go, it will only go on one way.

NB. If you do get distracted, make sure you get the steering angle sensor correctly lined up before you put the wheel on, as removing a 197 airbag is an utter PITA and will cause a lot of swearing and bleeding fingers.

I need a beer.

Having sorted out the steering wheel angle sensor, i thought I'd relax with a nice trip to the supermarket for essential supplies.
However, as i went faster i heard an unpleasant scraping sound. The driver's side front arch liner had fallen down and was grinding on the road.
Thankfully i had a spare.
Not wishing to blame anyone, but i suspect i disturbed it when fitting the splitter...
