The rear trailing arms have a tendancy to crack where the two rear bushes are. Personally never seen it myself but a fair few members have had theirs go.
Just had a look and I see no obvious cracks but will have a proper go over before the MOT end of month

Got the monster sport Gear knob fitted It looks odd in the photo's and its bright white which does not help but what it has done is make changing gears bloody lovely its a good 2 inches shorter than stock so shorter throws.
Excuse the dirty interior

MOT time today and it passed with no advisories

Also fitted new water pump and thermostat

Going to look at getting the suspension refreshed I want to do lower arms, wishbones' top mounts rear beam basically as much as possible only trouble is that its going to take time to buy all the parts and get them fitted. This is going to be a longer restoration than first thought and I plan to keep it for a long time the final plan for the car would eventually be engine rebuild with a supercharger but thats way way into the future.

I love these. I tried to find one before I bought my Clio 172, but they were either rusty, had moon rocket mileages, or sold in minutes.

Great thread, and keep up the good work! I'm particularly impressed with how clean the engine bay looks.

I bought one for night road rally's, after years of Mk1 Escorts, they are very underrated, only need the rear shocks sorting, I had custom AVO ones re valved, sump & tank guards fabricating, lamp brackets etc, up rated front pads, rear cage, never had a moments trouble from it in 3 years of hard rallying, sold it to another chap who still rally's today.

You shouldnt have been put off with mileage they are chain driven and with good servicing can do super high mileage and keep going they do also sell really quick but if I am honest you are better off with your clio. Parts are mega hard to find and any stuff you do need is Suzuki only

Had to sell this I am going through a bit of a rough patch financially and mentally so sold to a lovely chap who drifts a V8 BMW so in good hands will hopefully get something else in the near future when I am in a better place.

New car will be interesting and different because I just dont do normal cars!

Sorry to hear that chap, unfortunately financial problems and mental health problems often go hand in hand, I know it's difficult but try to stay positive and as you'll hear many times, keep your chin up!!

Sorry to hear that, you were doing some great work.
But sounds like the last thing you need is an expensive, time consuming and distracting project.
Look after yourself and hope you'll be in good place soon.

Thanks chaps

Ive been looking at getting another saab at some point as they are one of my all time favourites and easier to fix and maintain than the suzuki as odd as that sounds.

Just got to get this month out the way and look at my finances and get to the doctors for some help I basically have really really bad anxieties which affects my sleep tremendously.

I have been after a mk 1 9-5 aero but they are extremely thin on the ground. If so I may do a restoration thread who knows

Aahhh the old "waking up in the middle of the night sweating and shaking" routine, yes I'm intimately acquainted with that, been on Citalopram for some 13+ years to counteract it, it's very unpleasant, very tiring, it grinds you down and leaves you questioning your own ability to even function. As I already said mate, stay positive, keep your spirits up and staying active really does help!!!

Hope you're doing ok. You sound like you've made the right decision even though you were doing a great job on the Suzuki.

All the best for the future smile
