My turn to be ridiculously excited - my first AMG!
Discussion
First update for ages!
Finally took the car for its MoT yesterday (about 1 month overdue but not used the car). Only done 400 miles in the last year
Failed on a front suspension balljoint which was an advisory last year. Genuine arm is £90 plus about an hour's labour so will be done next week.
Also asked them to do an oil change. I'm a bit paranoid about it being done properly - there are two sump plugs on the engine (either side of a baffle), so both need to be drained to fully empty. Worries me that if they don't do one, and then fill up with the 'right' volume of oil, it will be hugely overfilled. As there is no dipstick, there is no easy way of telling, and the electronic level indicator needs the engine to be warm...
You can vacuum the oil out the the dipstick tube (it just has a plug at the top) but they ordered a sump plug washer (hopefully it is a kit of two) so I think they are draining it.
Would it be bad form to send them a link to the procedure like this: http://www.drakon.us/
I think once this is all done it will sadly be time to part company. It's a brilliant car but I just don't get a chance to use it - It should have been to the Alps twice already but that couldn't happen. My son will need a car as well, so I don't really want four cars on the drive. I've got a couple of people very interested, so need to decide what to do.

You definitely need to start using it a bit more I reckon! Finally took the car for its MoT yesterday (about 1 month overdue but not used the car). Only done 400 miles in the last year
How can you resist not using that awesome engine loads?!
Get out there bud!

You’re right of course, but it just hasn’t happened with all the various restrictions over the last year, WFH (so no chance to drive it to work) and other stuff going on. It is always easier to take the Defender…How can you resist not using that awesome engine loads?!

Update time....
Gave the car a really good interior clean and wash last weekend and took a load of photos. Took a few days to decide whter to use them, but I've come to a decision and it is now for sale
I love driving it, but just don't get the time to do so. My son also has a car now, which means I need to move two cars before I can get the SLK55 off the drive. I'm so pleased I've experienced the car and that engine. Oh, and the noise it makes
I think I'm allowed to post the link to the ad, so here goes: https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/13990740
I think I have shown everythging in the photos, but if there is a glaring omission please let me know and I'll add more.

Ad has been up for a few days now and other than Pidsy’s interest, I’ve only had one email from a dealer with an offer that felt far too low, and a random ‘I’ll give you £x’ which I replied to but heard nothing else.
Much as I’d love another Comp, and Pidsy’s looks amazing, I’ve decided a swap isn’t for me at the moment.
I suspect now is not the time to be selling a fun car with a big V8!
Alternatively, does anyone see a problem with the ad / pictures? The asking price feels fair looking at those for sale across PH and another large site.

As you say perhaps not a great time to be selling a 5.5 V8, is it in the £600 tax bracket as well. Maybe better luck in the spring if you want strong money for it. What do the Wbac crowd list it as ?
Looks good though, where is that rusty bit ? Maybe worthwhile getting that repaired ?

I do not need another toy, but of course I've been looking around
It does bring home what a stonkingly good buy an SLK55 is - there is really not a lot out there for the same sort of money that can touch it is there!
There is so much to like about them for the money as you say. I would've loved one as my fun car for sure, but at the time I really fancied 3 pedals though. However I've really been enjoying the DCT in the M4 miles more than I was expecting, so I reckon that I could definitely go for a 2 pedal fun car now though.
Who doesn't love a V8 as well?!
