I will once I get the car, will put some pics up. Its a V8, 10mpg planet unfriendly engine!
Old Rolls or Bentley
Aren't they all 6.75L ?
Either 6.2 or 6.75 depending on age. By 2003 they were all 4.4 V8s - I posted before the OP put more info up.

6.0 V8 is quite a rare combo - can't think of anything European from 2003 that fits that bill

I've just realised the promo picture shows a newer version of the car, not a 2003. It's a newer generation in the picture which ties in with the 'implied' 2009 car. The 2003 looks different.

The pic isn't a photo, its computer generated image but clearly of the newer gen model. Which would make it a 6.2L car, not a 6.0L

Try as I might I cannot find the outfit advertising a draw for a Hummer though.
And I can't find any for sale for less than £10k

This is not acceptable business practice and I would think you’ve got the basis for a complaint here. You are owed 30k and have been given 5k so you appear to have been robbed of 25k you are rightly due.

Few thoughts:
- Don’t think the complaint is an Advertising Standards Authority one, but suspect Trades Descriptions Act (which has more teeth). Citizens Advice or a lawyer can advise.
- I believe the fact that the competition is free is irrelevant. In fact, retail competitions need to be free or else the providers have to meet Gambling legislation.
- I also wouldn’t accept the argument that “it was free, so stop complaining”. They’ve not just misled you, they’ve misled everyone who entered the competition, and gained your attention to their brand and activities under false pretences.

Personally, I would find some proof of the mention of 30k, write to the company concerned raising your issue, and ask for something specific by way of compensation eg 25k cash. I would state clearly that if they do not make good their error, then you will take legal action and put it in the public domain. Good luck!

I agree with this take. It's not just that they've misled you, but also anyone that entered. They presumably ran the competition to gain contact info of potential customers and/or raise their business profile. They got what they wanted but they haven't delivered what they wre giving an implied promise of in return. Pretty shady way to operate a company if you ask me.
I agree. It's a very sneaky thing to do if the car is only worth a fraction of what it was claimed to be.

I find it odd that a company would do the competition with an old car. Especially a big old car.

Come on OP. Link the competition and let us all see. You'll get better advice on the back of it.

As mentioned, I don't want to confirm yet. The company doesn't even know I'm a bit miffed by what has happened so it's only fair I take it up with them 1st. I'm going to drop them a mail and see what they say.

Ok.

I'll see what the response is when I contact them 1st and I'll share asap. Its only right I give them the opportunity to clear things up. They might have a surprise lined up that I'm not aware of.

Ignoring the 'truck' clue slightly, might this be it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0DzrfZ2MJg

Artist's Impression of a 100k car on the thumbnail and an old one could be 5k.

Cadillac Escalade:

2002–2003 6.0L LQ4 (Not Used In Escalade, 8th Digit in Vin = U) Vortec V8, 310 hp (231 kW)

2006–2014 — 6.2 L Vortec 6200 V8, 403 hp (301 kW)

This car sold for £5,500 on eBay:

That is a pretty rubbish car.

EDIT: Apparently they're £93,000 new! - https://www.cadillac.co.uk/vehicles/range/escalade...

It's more of a pick up really. I've certainly never seen a 5k Hummer so if it's that i think he's underselling it a bit.

So many threads where the OP talks in riddles.

What a waste of time. Just because one company is giving away a specific car doesn't mean it's that company or naming and shaming them.

Good advice and thanks to everyone helping me with this.

As a matter of courtesy, I've dropped them a note, just explaining what I thought I had won and that actually, the reality being so different has taken the gloss off. I will see what they say.

I already have the prize draw video on my phone - I video screen captured it to share with friends and family on WhatsApp, as well as the image that shows a much newer model year of the car.

Just sent it so probably won't hear until tomorrow. Will share straight away once I hear anything and thanks once again to everyone for posting your views.

Soup dragon... Pm the car then I'll pm a complete stranger on here who will then post up a thread about being pissed he didn't win the competition or something like that and they'll never know.

We'll also use a special code for the car and company so if it is a hummer, we'll call it a thummer and if it was primark, we'll call it sprimark.

a clothing company does a competition for a second hand car?

Unless its something like an old vw camperi just find it an odd thing to give away.

Yes i know its not and has a massive motor, just seems odd
