Only spotted this thread now it's been resurrected.

First few pages remind me of when I won a 997 911 on here.

For a week.

I was happy and knew I was only getting use of it for a week when I entered. But I perhaps needed to make that clear from the off with Mrs PB as she got very excited until I pointed that bit out to her!

Is it still in Ireland? I have been looking for an LS engine for some time and getting them from the US is expensive!
Yes, still in Ireland as my best guess.
Would you happen to have contact details of who you sold it to?

I don't unfortunately.

It was a friend pointed it out to me for sale, quite a while after I sold it. Can't remember the name of the garage to even check. It was about a 6 months or so after I sold it.

OP I had a 1961 GMC Apache and the strange vagueness of the steering was interesting at best. PS Iskra sold her Escalade during Covid as it wasn’t getting used.
I've just been through that section of the thread again, bringing back some good memories smile

It'll take me a couple of sessions to read back through it all but I got to the Escalade photos and my heart sank a bit, I can't lie.

I sort of wish I had of kept it now. Ok, I wasn't going to drive it much and would have had to tax and insure it etc, but for about £2 a day for that and the occasional tank of fuel, its not like it would have crippled the finances or anything.

I think my 8 year old daughter (at the time) might have been right after all...

I know it was a “free” car but my view is you have pictures and memories. My kids only remember my GMC with fondness. I’m 55 now and it’s about packing in as many good memories as possible. GMC gone, XK140 gone, still got the Vitesse and now a New Defender.

...and then it needs new "shoes" at 1k, something nigh on impossible to get hold of breaks and then someone scrapes it down the side as it is sticking out in the road more than other cars and it ends up costing lots more than that £2 a day.

A car like this, in my opinion, is a liability on our roads.

That is not a reflection on the car, but the situation it is in.
