This kinda reminds me of when 5th Gear were running giveaways for used cars which I though was odd and really summed up the show (low budget Top Gear, but watchable).

It was something like "how hot is Viki Butler Henderson?"

To 83560 and win a 2001 Audi TT worth £4,995!

  • not guaranteed to be MOT'd, no cash prize and no, you can't win VBH for the weekend.

As I said earlier , likely you'll end up with a piece of junk but if it's usable have some fun . They're not 20' long , based on a half ton truck chassis and loads of chav wives drive them in NA , drive it into the ground or stick it on Ebay all depending on what shows up . An 03 is worth less than SFA but you might get lucky , again laughlaugh

- what about blinging it up a bit and making a rental business of some sort around it

- or offering it to a rental company as an alternative to limo hire for prom type stuff

- executive Uber airport runs (hire it out to an existing Uber driver?)

- make it available to nightclubs as a perk for paying customers, picking them up from bars across town so they can be seen getting out of the car at the club, with some apparent preferential treatment from the door staff

or break it for spares if you can find a market.

What does webuyanycar say?

Be interesting to look at the history when you get the reg etc.
If it was imported from the US part way through it's life, could also be possible to get some of the history from CarFax too (for a fee, sadly)
Download the MyCarFax app, add the Cadillac to your garage (using the VIN) and you should be able to view previous history and maintenance.

I agree with this take. It's not just that they've misled you, but also anyone that entered. They presumably ran the competition to gain contact info of potential customers and/or raise their business profile. They got what they wanted but they haven't delivered what they wre giving an implied promise of in return. Pretty shady way to operate a company if you ask me.
On the basis of the advert that has since come to light, I think I'd revise my opinion to say I'd just take it on the chin to be honest. It comes across as essentially a comedy contest, rather than a strong implication on value of the car. A 2003 Escalade is a 2003 Escalade. It's what they offered and what they're providing.

Sorry if that's not what you want to hear, but I don't think your grounds for complaint are too strong on this one.
^This
I also revise my earlier comments. I thought you were misled by the competition, description, and yet it looks very clear to me what the prize is, the age and condition. I do agree the comment about £30k value on the video was wrong, and understand why you were upset, but don’t see any grounds for complaint.

I’d play with the car for a week or two, then sell it, enjoy the proceeds and move on.

Funny, someone at work said similar. It's a niche market trying to sell one of these, even more so considering I live in N Ireland which makes finding a potential buyer even more niche. One of these companies might be interested, and the backstory of it being used to troll Tiger Woods at the open is sort of cool too.

1st things 1st, get it taxed, insured and then take it for a spin. Maybe get some Snoop Dog blaring out of the speakers as I drive around town in a pair of baggy pants and an oversized NBA shirt smile

Will share the pics of it when I get it tomorrow.

You could sell it to Tiger Woods

1 - I'ts left hand drive so ideally suited to the American market
2 - He had one before and smashed it up.

Sorry if I've missed something but where did it state that the car was worth 30k? All I see is pretty clear T&Cs saying you get the car in the billboard, in whatever state its in when they remove it and they won't cover any costs to make it roadworthy. Sounds more like an exercise in offloading some scrap metal used for advertising to me.

Good luck though OP, you must have took some brave (or stupid) pills to enter the competition wobblehehe get some photos up and info when it arrives.

I would give it a once over while still on the truck or before you sign for it.If it looks and runs like a bag of spanners,fk it of and don’t accept your prize.
