Sorry if I've missed something but where did it state that the car was worth 30k? All I see is pretty clear T&Cs saying you get the car in the billboard, in whatever state its in when they remove it and they won't cover any costs to make it roadworthy. Sounds more like an exercise in offloading some scrap metal used for advertising to me.

Good luck though OP, you must have took some brave (or stupid) pills to enter the competition wobblehehe get some photos up and info when it arrives.
You are seeing things in reverse order on this thread compared to how I seen them as it all unfolded

This is the initial picture for the comp

It's a MkIII escalade. I've actually won a MkII

Here is the prize draw. Based on the image, and the video below, I THOUGHT I had won a Mk3 Escalade worth 30k.

https://twitter.com/paddypower/status/115362588345...

So I entered the comp, and next thing I know, my phone is pinging like crazy. I watch the video and then celebrate winning a 30k car.

I take full ownership that I didn't read the Ts and Cs. You have to go look for them though, they weren't laid out in plain sight. As soon as I won, they contacted me and we exchanged details, I proved I was over 18 and as far as I was concerned, done deal, I'm the winner.

Never entered my head I needed to read Ts and Cs when it was already confirmed I was the winner. That's how it all unfolded.

did the terms and conditions change between when you entered and when you won?

I appreciate you may not have bothered to read them, but without reading them you didn't know what you were winning. You just assumed.

Surely you have seen adverts where they show a deal for a car and say have this for just £300 pcm and then in small type they explain that the image is the top range model and the price quoted is for the open wagon

I think you’re a bit out of line given what happened. I kinda understand why you felt the way you did, but still think you’d got it wrong...as I think you do now.

Bet you wish you’d told the thread more info instead of being cagey before shooting off that email!

Oh, and Tess - classy bird!

I've driven a few older Chevy Suburbans, and a fairly new Ford equivalent to this. I loved them.

If you're getting the LWB version there will be seating for 6-8 people, and space for all their luggage.

Out of town you'll get less horrific mpg, and the ride will feel very smooth. Any knackered bits are used in a lot of vehicles, and will be very simple to fit. Any garage will be able to look after it for you if you're not a dab hand with the spanners.

I think you can get bluetooth -> FM converters, so you will be able to play the music from your phone to the ancient stereo.

Happy days. I'll give you £1,000 for it.

OP, whilst i understand your frustrations at being 'duped' a bit (as they're not providing what they stated they are).

I bloody love the Escalades (i know i'm going against the grain here).
I'm actually a tad jealous you've won it, i'd be absolutely buzzing if it was me!
I'd even offer to buy it off of you, but i'm poor & don't have £5k, PM me if you want to shift it, i might be interested.

In the Ts and Cs they may well reserve the right to award the prize to another entrant...

Reading the first few pages my guess would have been Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, close I guess, maybe they even use the same engine?

Reading that ad it clearly states you're getting the one in the billboard, it even then reiterates it in the T & C's exactly what you're getting.

It might even be folded double by the time you see it, no guarantees it'll actually be a driveable car once they push it out of the billboard.

Soupdragon: I live in a country where we drive LHD cars .... just saying wink

Mind you, getting that barge from Norn Iron to Lux would be 2 ferries, a gazzillion litres of unleaded and a headache this end to get it through Controle Technique and registered! laugh

Small world but i spotted this car/billboard being assembled last month on the way down the A1 in Northern Ireland to Belfast.

It was situated just outside Banbridge.

Are you going to be able to find insurance? I always though Northern Ireland had very high insurance rates?

And I'd also be very concerned at the condition of the car - no doubt it will have had some serious external 'structure' to hold it in place on the billboard, and that will no doubt not be easy to remove. Will it even be roadworthy?

I'm afraid I'm in with some of the others, no way I'd want this for free. Sounds like a liability!

Im definitely along for the ride in seeing the condition it arrives in. Can you take a video of it when it arrives? smile

Dublin to Cherbourg, and then a steady drive through France, surely?

I'd live my Stringer Bell fantasies and absolutely love it! biggrin

This thread is hilarious. The third word in the advert for the competition is CRASHED and yet you are disappointed that you might be getting a not crashed car just because it is older that you thought it might be (crashed), even though the exact age of the car was spelt out in the not particularly onerous Ts &Cs!

First world problems again on PH!

I'd drive it to The Netherlands and sell it there. There seems to be more Yank Tank enthusiasts there than other places in mainland Europe.

Wait until after Brexit, sell it there for €5000, and then convert that in to £30,000 using the new improved post-Apocalypse exchange rate! Hey presto, your £30k prize has materialised.
